Honestly... I'd rather they spawn with more models but cost more to compensate. The larger upfront cost would be a higher risk/reward and give a squad that is actually usable in the field. 3 models is just... ughh frustratingly fragile.

Why is everyone out and trying to get rid of any kind of unique unit or ability?

Commandos used Lee Enfield rifles.
Yes they did, they also used few garands.
Some garands where also used from RAF and home guard.
Any way there is a De Lisle carbine in the game files that was used by commandos I have not checked if it factional.

Then change the name. It's not hard.
Its not about name, its about what the unit is supposed to do.
Its supposed to infiltrate, aka walk out of neutral building and be a problem for your team weapons.
Falls still were infiltration unit, pretty much ALL of units that can spawn ON FIELD are infiltration units.
Its not hard to understand.
