In the upcoming Company of Heroes for iPad, players secure their positions with field defences which can be quickly and easily placed by drawing them directly onto the map — like so.

Coming this fall.

Damm, I don't like it. But the market is huge in China.

Hope Relic will add Chinese localization in their next COH game.

Friendly advice to Sega/Relic...
Path of Exile Mobile
In terms of marketing, this is how you announce a mobile game to PC players with some honestly and a sense of humor:

0:10 - "Mobile games are kinda BS" quote Jonathan Rogers Co-founder
0:39 - "Mobile fall guy" | Trevor Gamon
0:51 - Chris Wilson Co-founder, "We didn't just farm it out to an external studio...

While I agree PoE did it right (the entirety of ExileCon was great), there's a HUGE difference between PoE:Mobile and CoH:Mobile. Chris Wilson, Grind Gear Game's (PoE Dev) director, basically stated that it's an experiment. They've never incorporated PoE:Mobile into profit predictions or other forecasts, and they're not even sure how good (if at all) it'll be.

Sega/Relic/Feral, on the other hand, probably want this thing to succeed, and are probably counting on it making money.

Also, there's the release time-frame. PoE:Mobile has no release date - even at a vague level. If it's anything like the other major announcement of ExileCon (Path of Exile 2 / 4.0), it's likely not coming out in 2020, let alone 2019. Meanwhile CoH:Mobile went from announced to released in (supposedly) a few months - you can't really have that kind of window and start off with "these types of games are terrible", even if it is really funny.

In addition, more game companies should pay attention to how GGG announces and discusses things. Same could be said of Digital Extremes, the makers of Warframe. Both are incredibly transparent and have great community interactions.

TBH, it seems like an okay idea. It will get the game out there to a lot of people who don't regularly use PC's. They should probably try an android port also. I don't know that it will help COH3 much in terms of growing the player base but it might help some. There aren't lots of good RTS's on either IOS or android so it has a chance. One of the toughest things it has against it is that there are a billion other games on those platforms so how will this one get noticed?

We had hoped to release Company of Heroes for iPad this year, but the demands of bringing it to a smaller screen have outpaced our best efforts. However, it's looking great on iPad, and is in the final stages of development. We will have an update on it early in the new year.

This is interesting.

Feral Interactive seem to have access to the source code of CoH and people that probably worked on the game if they've managed to implement CoH 2's circles around the capture points here.

So maybe that means a possible remake or that scrapped Italian Front then?

I mean M$ seems to be having a lot of success with the remasters of their old games and I'm sure a lot of CoH fans would buy the game again if it's improved.

Also looking forward to the expansions for the mobile version and a new phone to actually run the game on lol.

IMO, Relic/Sega games will expand with new subscription services such as Xbox Game Pass/project xCloud streaming (console/pc/mobile), Apple Arcade (mobile) and/or Google Stadia streaming.

Accurately predicted over 1 year ago;

Coming Soon

The follow-up to the highest rated RTS of all time, Company of Heroes 2 is an acclaimed blend of strategy and tactics will test players’ knowledge of real-world combat. Now with five armies included to play with in multiplayer and two single-player campaigns. Cover, line of sight, armor, and fully destructible environments all must be considered to lead your troops to victory
