why Rangers dont have any utility skill?

Other elite infantry have 1~2 utility skill

"Jager command squad"(WTF is this? is this hitler's new ubersoldier?)

- camo, flare, rifle nade, panzerfaust, smoke, sprint, no need weapon upgrade, field medkit, free 3 g43


Stormtrooper (he is not good....but have many utility skill)

- camo, Tactical advance(mp40), Detection(panzer shurek), interrogation(g43), flame nade, smoke, booby trap, sprint(doctrine), stun nade(doctrine), field medkit


obersoldaten

- bundle grenade, booby trap, toxic smoke, suppressing fire(Vet 4), sprint(vet 5), infiltration grenade(doctrine)

ignore some cover advantage(doctrine weapon mp44), field medkit, shooting LMG while he is moving


JLI

- camo, sniping(need g43 upgrade), booby trap, salvage, sprint, field medkit, infiltration grenade(doctrine)


fallschimjager

- camo, free 4 fg42, panzefaust, toxic aid, field medkit



Commando

- camo, first strike buff, grenade, demol charge, smoke, field medkit, retreat smoke(vet 3), shooting Bren while he is moving


guard rifle

- grenade, button vehicle, hit the dirt,

shock troop

- grenade, 1.5 armor, smoke, free 6 ppsh-41,

airborn guard

- grenade, smoke, 3 LMG and shooting LMG while he is moving, strafing run(vet 1)


airborn

- grenade, can reinforce When he is near Beacon, shooting LMG while he is moving, tactical advance(thompson), suppression fire(M1919), mine(recon support airborn)


Ranger

- damage reduce passive(will be delete), 3 weapon slot, grenade, field medkit


Ranger need additional utility skills or redesign

in now, he is strong but just A-click stupid unit


MY suggestion)

Ranger now has one squad limit in one field at the same time

350/32/10 -> 420/31/9

I thought of rework by using three of his weapon slots

He no longer drops weapons and have 2 weapon upgrade choice

basic : 4 thompson, grenade, sachel, unlock tactical advance in vet 3

leading the way kit(70 muni) : add 1 M1919 LMG(can shoot while he is moving), unlock recon flight(50 muni), unlock rapid barrage in vet 3

Anti-tank kit(150 muni) : replace 4 thompson to 3 bazooka(dmg 100x3), unlock camo and first strike buff, unlock mark target in vet 1

What's the point of those upgrades when there are (Support) Paratroopers who can get the same upgrades while being able to field multiple squads?

4 thimpson+1 M1919 + recon skill + can use rapid barrage

and Ranger is more durable unit

There's nothing wrong with Rangers being a straightforward unit. Putting abilities on a unit just for the sake of it is an awful design philosophy.

in now, he is strong but just A-click stupid unit


If you attack move a Ranger you're using it wrong.

so What can the rangers do?

just attack and attack and advance and advance.....


he have no ability and there are no characteristics compared to other elite infantry

he have only damage reduce and that will be take away the last remaining feature and will not use anyone

I mean I dont see how thats a bad thing. Considering USF has plenty of utility in its nondoc units a purely offensive unit like Rangers doesn't require tons of utility on itself. Also the commander Rangers are in have a smoke barrage.

Rangers' utility is having the best SMG in the game that basically behaves like an Assault Rifle.

That is not "utility", just weapon upgrade

Do u thinking "shooting" is utility skill?

Ranger only can do "just A-move-attack-retreat"

Even new long range soviet unit have more utility skill and strong 3 DP

What are the Rangers better than them?

can throw smoke? suppress? just move and attack?

It can do other units as well

Rangers are just slightly less interesting shock troops right now. Better weapon profile, no smoke. At least the damage reduction made them unique in soaking damage from explosions.

They're not bad, and lord knows they do NOT need changes this arbitrary and complex. But something would be good. Satchel?

The Ranger doesn't have any utility skill because it's a straightforward combat unit. It has solid stats and a grenade.

It's simple and it works well. Sometimes less is more.

Shocktroopers only have 1.5 armor because their SMG dps completely drops off between range 10 and 15 and is non existing beyond range 15.

Thompsons on the other hand have good DPS up to range 20, on top of having the highest close range DPS in the game (as a squad), so Rangers don't need anything else.

As I said, their weapons profile is their unique utility.

weapons profile cant be "unique utility"

It's much better to use vet riflemans and build 50 cals than to use Ranger

There is no reason to use Ranger If you only use them for that purpose,

Rangers are good squad, they dont need additional utility because of how good their stats are.

The problem is someone in balance team was bored and decided to destroy the only standing out feature of rangers, damage reduction. It was completly unnecessary to touch rangers in the first place as they were fulfiling very important role in usf roster and were good at it (their high price was justified).

Now you can be sure that this great "rework" will bring some problems while previously rangers were in a good spot.

My idea for balance team:

Some forum user (nigo?) said there is unique ranger skin in game files. Take this unique skin, apply all these wonderful changes of yours to ranger squad, call it Urban Assault Rangers (or whatever) and add it to the new usf commander. Leave heavy cav ranger as they were.
