Replay or it didn't happen.
I actually played vs a guy named mariens today. I also remember getting annoyed that a flamer engineer just walked up to my 42 frontally and fried it in no time. Similar problems occur with conscripts. Orrah and molotov can´t be stopped - even when charging just into the 42´s arc of fire.

Also I have a better thread title: Blobbing is back. It´s so nice to see it´s revival. Reminds me of Coh1. Just left click, right click and be part of the horde.

Trying to use the 42 as a support weapon behind Grens? Forget it, shocks decimate infantry and don´t get supressed. Had four Russian infantry squads running into two 42s, a Gren and a HT frontally and coming out on top.

There is simply no efficient way to stop the spam. If the Russian player sees the MG42 firing, he just oorahs up to the 42 or gets out of the arc. That´s not difficult. Then run around and cap or just behind the 42. Profit, gg, wp!

Ost Weapon Team: 8.85 / 4.83 / 0.81
Sov Weapon Team: 5.54 / 3.47 / 1.4

Yeah, you are right.
They do have increased DPS, except at far range, if these numbers are correct.

now that i look closer, im not sure where nullist pulled these numbers. those arent even close to what i had on the spreadsheet. my numbers were inaccurate anyway though. these numbers have been fixed now, although you have to look at a seperate tab for incremental accuracy. the problem is dps for an mg42 is fairly complex since it changes based on the number of entities in its search radius. the more entities, the more accurate it is, meaning more dps. this increased dps obviously caps once the accuracy reaches 100%. for each entity killed, the accuracy and dps start going down. maxims accuracy and dps are constant. the best i can do for comparison purposes is assume the mg42 fires on 1 full squad of 6 men.

MG42 DPS vs 6 entities:
near: 48.57 mid: 26.62 far 4.67

Maxim DPS vs any number of entities
near: 24.18 mid: 15.08 far 5.99

sorry if my old numbers caused any confusion. should be all better now. just in case anyones curious, heres the mg42 with the smallest accuracy bonus possible.

MG42 DPS vs a single entity
near: 30.16 mid: 16.53 far:2.90

its not really fair to simplify such a complex balancing issue down to 1 sentence. the mg42 has better damage at all but the longest ranges. id say the maxim is the much better suppresser though. maxim can easily suppress at long ranges (where you want to suppress units), while the mg42 is better at suppressing up close. the other differences like arc and setup time are well known so i dont even need to mention them.

basically, the mg42s damage is very good, but i dont think its enough to balance it currently. its lack of mobility and suppression make it extremely vulnerable to not only flanking, but head on attacks. its so easy to displace that its high dps is rarely realized.

The numbers are the DPS of the Weapon Support teams themselves.

The increased survivalabity of the Soviets is off-set by the increased DPS of the German weapon teams. So in Nullists example, he brings 6 friends and I bring 4. The only difference is he brought knives to a gun fight.

This was in response to Pqumsiehs specific wording of Support Team's DPS in relation to the 4 vs 6 split and applies to HMG, Mortar and ATGs.

Yes I had this moment when I sent Conscripts to capture a fuel point and an MG was there...was ready to hit retreat then observed that it didn't surpress from the first burst...made it easy just to charge+molotov...
