Is it normal to continually add Royal engineers + brens to play the lategame?
I've been trying to hold out for anvil tactics for the heavy engineer upgrade but I feel that's too slow.

I've been trying to hold out for anvil tactics for the heavy engineer upgrade but I feel that's too slow.
Its not as slow as it is weak. The best benefit of the anvil heavy engineers is the repair bonus, but DPS is minimal. For combat purposes its just better to wait for an oportunity to get up close with stens, rather than gettin this bloody DPS downgrade
So yeah, Bren all the way

I don't know why you would, they're the worst engineer unit in the game as far as combat goes.

nerfed into mush like the rest of the british roster
you're better off just ignoring them and going for centaur rush, lategame they will get destroyed by vet3 lmg grens and obers.

Anybody have any success with flamers on RE? Is it worth it for blobs or only for dealing with garrisons?
Please bear in mind that I only play team game modes.

Garrisons only. Unless you go 4-5 RE with flamers, havent tried that one...yet.

The Bren has much higher DPS than the Enfield rifle, yes.

They are obviously not bad.
8 months ago maybe, now remake that test with current patch flamer pios vs obers. I've played around with it but you just end up feeding lmg grens vet and free bren guns.
heavy engie strats just don't work anymore sadly

Yeah, their stats were changed zero in the last patch.

Get one for dealing with buildings instead of a wasp on urban maps, so like 2 section, vickers + tech up and flamer engie. Then maybe another IS with pyrotechnics or commandos.
Just keep in mind if you put piats on them they will only a-move fire the piats to the range of the flamers. Best to leave them with stens and the flamer really.

Yeah, their stats were changed zero in the last patch.
it did in the time you tested that 8+ months ago. There's been two patches with two rounds of nerfs to lmg sappers

1st point, fair enough. 2nd point, no. The Heavy sappers use the Vickers K not the Bren, so the DPS from that weapon is still the same. Furthermore, GOOD. 210 MP 5 man engineers should not be able to run up to fucking obers and win an engagement.

It gets a bit silly if you're using test vids from outdated patches to judge current strats, this was my beef with you. Imagine asking about penal builds but I posted a video of a year ago when they were seal clubbing grens and volks with penal flamers. It just adds nothing to the strat talk or conversation.
Try a lmg heavy sapper build and see how far you get but right now I feel they are way too weak for it to work. Anvil sapper upgrade+5 man upgrade makes them sort of stand their ground in green cover vs LMG grens but they still drop like flies once grens hit vet 3. RA nerfs hit them hard.

Royal Engineers are probably the most worthles unit of its type when it comes to combat. Even putting PIATs on them kind of sucks since they can be so easily wiped by a Panzer IV and Ostwind.
