Dealing with G43 grens blob

After a few days with the new patch everything is slowly returning to the old blobs in 2v2.

In particular G43 grens are giving me a lot of trouble
- Its an all around upgrade that makes grens even more effective at range, improves the firing on the move damage and allows them to fight even better at close range, all while being able to charge your positions without stoping to fire. Cons get mowed down at range against them, even with green cover they just can stand against 43s in the open.

- Maxims won't stop them in time. With vet, they'll become supressed just outside the riflenade range, so they will just crawl until they are back in range and hit you while another squad shoots the surviving memebers. I'm taking ages to make them hit the dirt even using the sustained fire ability. Also, because they dont need to stop to fire like with lmgs, you can't count on your mortars to turn the tide.

Getting another maxim means delaying a Zis to deal with light vehicles or guards as a soft counter to both infantry and vehicles. They dont fear a T70 and going T4 for a T34 or a katy seems risky against the incoming Tigers or P4s.

Maybe its the maps, Allience of Defience has a lot of open ground with polarizing green cover areas

Static place your maxims, don't just supress them. What i mean is once they start crawling to you just displace and attack again. They'll still be crawling for the rifle nade.
G43s are very effective on the move but conscripts with ppsh's do just as well, also are more deadly than 43's in close range.

Add some indirect fire to your mg and conscript wall. Once they get surpressed, your 120 mm mortar can easily pick them off. A kattyusha can also seriously harm them and keep them from frontally blobbing effectively.

Penals, Guards, 120mm mortars or shocks should do the trick.

Kv8 works nicely against infantry blobs as well ;)

The blobs are real since the nerf to the TNT. Axis players know they can run big ass blobs and not have to worry about being one shotted. Since allied MG's (except the .50 cal) are shit at suppression, but deal decent damage the blobs are hard to counter.

It can be hard to deal w/ the blobs before you can manage to get a katyush or any other artillery pieces. 120 MM mortars can be good, but very RNG and if your opponent is running a G43 blob chances are you're constantly being flanked and ran around by these aggressive pushes.

Tier 1 honestly, some people don't really like it but Penals are actually very good counters to Grens and to Volks. As they lose squad members they get stronger and stronger.. and with veterancy they become even more lethal. Tier 1 Penals can easily push back Volks or Grens, and eventually the vet lets them keep up. Just don't mass upgrade them all to ANTI tank rifles because they'll never keep up when they lose 2 rifles =(

Maxim used to be good when it pinned fast, had a narrow arc, and could setup at blazing speeds. I don't understand why they nerffed setup time, nerffed suppression and gave a wider arc.. Everyone knows the MG42 is king of suppression, can load rounds to deal massive damage to inf and light vehicles. The USF .50 cal is on par , but the Maxim and Vickers are shite.

Because maxims were too good as a front line unit obviously (spam). Those changes dont effect it too badly when its used as a support weapon to infantry play (i.e. not front line).

Laying 30 muni mines helps. Then a meat grinder. Zis barrage every time they stop to cap

Maxims suck. In team games as well. (still)
2 reason for that
1) Maxims cannot attack
2) Maxims cannot defend

Maxim is good now, was OP before (if you had the single braincell required to a-move them) and stops blobs just fine now.

Problems with using maxims are located between chair and keyboard.

Also, vickers is an awesome HMG, just stick it in a trench and watch it kill snipers at vet 1.

Ppsh cons>g43 grens, penals beat them, IS 5 man double bren beat them and BARed rifle's beat them.

If for some reason you're still losing to g43 grens with these units, I suggest you post a replay.

Maxim can still suppress just like any other MG. Pin with Maxim, flank with a single Penal squad. Grenadiers only have four men to a squad so even if you just kill one it's a 3 v 5 and they'll have to retreat.
