So with the changes to Penals and the introduction to a third PTRS upgrade me and my teammate got a bit confused.
we wanted to see the DPS of the PTRS on this Page, but it seems a little bit off. The Damage is 14 but neither the Damage against Infantry nor the Damage against Vehicle is 14 if we can Trust the Patchnotes. So does someone have the actual DPS of the PRTS?
And the second question. I'm sure i read something about different PTRS on different squads. So how does the DPS of the PTRS behave if i pick it up with different Squads? And is there a different if the PTRS was a Penal, Guard or Conscript PTRS?
Confused about PTRS

There are 3 different types of PTRS in the game with completely difrent properties so it is actually confusing.
1) Guards PTRS
2) Conscripts PTRS
3) Penal PTRS
AI in sort.
Guards and Conscripts PTRS are good vs Infantry with conscripts PTRS a bit weaker.
Penal PTRS is weak vs infantry.
AT in sort.
Guards Penals PTRS are better vs AT due to higher deflection damage.
Conscripts PTRS is weaker.
To make thing even more complicated:
Guards and Penal PTRS drops, while conscript's one does not.
To make thing even more complicated:
the type of PTRS a units get when they pick a Penal PTRs depend's on the unit. Normal infantry get the Penal PTRS elite infantry get the Guard's PTRs.
In numbers the DPS of PTRS vs infantry (not vehicles) range 0/10/20/30/40
conscipt_ptrs_41_mp-------1.40/1.27/1.14/0.79/0.44
guard_troop_ptrs_41-------1.37/1.20/1.03/0.86/0.68
penal_ptrs_41_mp----------0.44/0.37/0.31/0.24/0.17
X 1.5
conscipt_ptrs_41_mp-------2.10//1.91//1.71//1.19//0.66
guard_troop_ptrs_41-------2.06//1.80//1.55//1.29//1.02
penal_ptrs_41_mp----------0.66//0.56//0.47//0.36//0.26
(All this make things unnecessary complicated and imo are a bad design. If Soviet actually need PTRs in T1, moving Guards to T1 and adjusting them would be a far better solution.)

For handheld AT, the real damage is a bit off from what is listed in stat.coh2.hu. This is because of the workaround we deployed to prevent AT infantry from vetting too fast.
In fact the real damage of handheld AT is about 3 times higher than the one listed in stat.coh2.hu (e.g., Panzerschrecks deal 120 damage as opposed to the 40 damage that's listed), etc.
To make things more complicated, we also had to modify PTRS damage vs infantry; they now deal 20 damage, as opposed to 14 damage.
The workaround makes gamefiles difficult to parse. The benefits of the workaround far displaced the complexity that it brought.

So if the DPS Numbers are correct it is always a bad idea to pick up a PTRS exept you are desperately need some AT.
Thank you for the information

Actually the Guards PTRS in not completely bad for comparison I give you grenadiers 98K. It my be a little difficult to know if the PTRS is Penal or Guard thou.
guard_troop_ptrs_41---------------2.06//1.80//1.55//1.29//1.02
mosin_nagant_rifle_conscript_mp--3.44//2.52//1.96//1.22
DPS is comparble.
Keep in mind PTRs has a range of 40 not 35.

Guys, as I hinted in the previous post, those DPS numbers are not correct.
You need to multiply whatever DPS numbers you've produced by 1.5, because that's the target-table entry for PTRS vs infantry.
PS: Also, the DPS formula that coh2.hu uses is for DPS vs tanks (which is again completely wrong). That's because there is no way Guards PTRS DPS can equal Penal PTRS DPS.

Not matter what the current situation is confusing for players.
If there is a need for 2 different weapon just call on PTRD and the other PTRS their main difference is the magazine clip and the muzzle.
Currently the 3 different weapons:
1) Use different curves with conscripts one being better close and worse far and the Penal one using a different one (ration to Guards one is different).
2) Weapon behave differently vs vehicles having very different deflection damage.
Simple solution are better and there simple solution for this mess.
(and I am not blaming the moders team for this)
