What Counters Ostwind

Not faced one yet but when I do I won't know how to counter it. What does (not including the AT gun). Does a T70?

T34, Su85, I'm fairly sure a Su76 will also kill it.

T34 if properly microed, else just go SU-85 and you'll wreck it pretty fast.

I've won against a Flakpanzer with my vet 2 T70 before now.
Probably a combination of good micro on the T70 and poor micro on the Flak.

You got a few options up your sleeve and ill list them in order of best effectiveness.
- SU-85. Obviously the best hard counter.
- SU-76. A single SU-76 can win it but be careful of your rear armour. Try this next time though, especially 2 of them cost the same as the Ostwind or SU-85. You will also be surprised how 2-3 of them with support from Guards/ATG hold out P4's.
- T-34. Don't ram just shoot it.
- Guards/Conscripts/Mine + ATG. Reason I leave this last is a good player can avoid this and if the tank is supported it can be tricky to take out. Non-the less if you can't get vehicles and you've gone T2 this is your best bet.
- T70. Havn't tested it on Ostwinds enough but they do still get penetration, but probably best used on really hurt Ostwinds that you can easily get to their rear.

T-70 always loses to Ostwind. SU-85 will definitely kill it. I'm not sure about T-34.
I have seen often that an Ostwind kills it (and I think this should be fixed - an Anti-Inf-Tank kills an normal Tank, wtf!?).

shells of any size are a good counter to pretty much everything, ostwind included.

Ostwind is the best T-70 counter, so that doesn't work. T34 is your best bet.

Thanks for the replies. Seems my best bet is just to let one roam for a bit, stick to standard strategy then get an SU

Also worth noting that an Ostwind can't depress its gun low enough to shoot a target at point blank range, so hypothetically even a Guard car can take it out (unsupported ofc) if you manage to get close without taking shots.

If you can get an anti-tank grenade on it you can stop it from rampaging your units and avoid it until you get something that can deal with it.
T-70 is about the worst thing you can get to try and counter it. It will be killed as soon as it gets within sight range.

This has not been my experience. From what I have seen a vanilla Ostwind v a vanilla T70 the Ostwind wins in pretty much every scenario.

You can anti tank grenade it to break its engine and slow its moving speed then you can do many things, you can; flank it with guards and shoot with PTRS rifles, move a divisional field gun to attack, spam it with tanks or just ram it though the last is not advisable unless you have combat engineers nearby.

I have put a ton of T70s against Ostwinds, and in my experience the Ostwind will win every time. I guess with sick micro, and potentially Button Vehicle or Mark Target or something, the T70 could win, but for most people I think it's a bad fit.

I can't recall anyone saying that a T70 would beat an Ostwind, however for 160MP/55 Fuel they stand up VERY well frontally to an ostwind.

Tried the T-70 vs OPWind, today. After that I went looking for Stats, to see just how badly I was going to be doing in the future. OPWind has very good frontal armor (120 or so), but the rear...just 50 and change. 50 sounds awesome, till you remember the Tiny Tim 70 has a massive penetration of...45. Doh. "Kappa, where ARE you???"
