I've seen appreciation threads for individual content submissions, but I wanted to create one where people can discuss any content coming up, currently in the queue, or has already been accepted by Relic. This might help to increase community awareness of the offerings out there.
I'm quite keen to see curated items become a success, as Valve's experiments have shown that it can be a great way to secure ongoing support for a game, tournaments, and its community. Crowdsourcing content also
I've just gone through the curated items queue (about 28 items currently) and I'm largely impressed.
There's only one faceplate submitted so far (Janne252's COH2.org variety), which is surprising since I would have thought these would be the easiest to produce. However, looking at the 'ready-to-use' queue shows that about 99% of the existing ones are anime-based...
The skins were thankfully given a strong start courtesy of the War Paint competition. So far everything in the current queue waiting for approval is of a relatively immersive look with camouflage-based designs. That will please plenty of people, but given that Relic have already added an option to hide non-historical designs in matches, I'm keen to see some more heavily stylised ideas.
Personal favourites:
I've noticed that I have a preference towards design bold designs with clean lines between the patterns that contrast well and still stand out well when your camera is not zoomed in. 'Murky' patterns just don't do much for me.
Vector Dark - British Forces
I love the clean, dark lines in this one. Very striking.
OKW Three-Color Summer Camouflage
This one has a surprising amount of variance from vehicle to vehicle that people might find divisive. The creator may have benefited more from making separate packs out of such distinct patterns. People who want variety in their army should like this one though. I like most of the designs, finding the patterns to be bold and clean with classic camo colours.
US Olive Drab Summer
Want some cold, hard military utilitarianism? Look no further.
