Diversity over balance... I always thought, that in "assymetrical balance" main word is not "assymetrical", but word "balance".

Well, you're wrong as these two are equals, unless you want to make game with same factions and different skins.

Btw, in vCoH all HMG teams (MG-42, 0.30, Vikkers commando) design was pretty same - all were deffensive. But there was faction diversity and nobody complained about it.

Except, bruts used Bren carrier for suppression or later on doctrinal vickers, USF one had lower suppression and higher damage and MG42 was MG42, PE used 250HTs or G43 for suppression or had none at all, then G43 were changed into snares.

For example - veterancy system. In vCoH each faction had it's own vet system, and that was cool. In CoH 2 only one faction has different vet system - OKW. And not that much different, only 2 additional stars.

Oh yeah, that worked well, especially for brits and wehr :snfBarton:

Anyway - "mirrored" HMGs won't ruin CoH2, assymetry and all that stuff. Don't worry about it.

No, they won't.
But they also won't go that way, because there are other principles for these units depending on faction.

Permanently Banned
Death-loop is not a bug, is a designed choice. Now that maxims have been nerf, we can just give it the same teleport magic other support weapons have.

Lol, its not bug ? how you know it ?
If its designed choice, its one of the worst.

But... it's stupidity.People don't spam HMGs with deffensive design and don't use them as mainline infantry, because they are deffensive, they are support guns.

Maxims designed to be offensive HMG in "very offensive" faction USSR. With such design and idea of "fast and durable frontline HMG" it will obviously change your infantry - conscrtipts, which are pretty poor also. Conscripts might be durable, fast or anything else, but they don't deal enough damage. Maxims, from other side, dealing damage good and pretty tough too.

So, "offensive" designed Maxim will push conscripts from they role anyway. Just because of better efficiency in offense. And that nerf didn't make anything new - even such nerfed Maxim is better than conscripts, they only made USSR gameplay with Maxims harder, like it wasn't hard before.

Relic should at least try to make Maxim and DShK deffensive HMGs. It is most obvious decision, if they really want to break Maxim spam-tactics. Again - nobody spamming Vikkers, nobody spamming MG-42. There is no reason. Mainline infantry of those factions are more or less fine for their role and HMGs role is different.

And again about assymetry - realise it through other mechanisms of game, you have enough of them. Assymetrical should be general deisgn of faciton, not each single unit of same type. Otherwise - why nobody protests about "Vikkers design is pretty much same with MG-42, wide arc, supression, setup time..., it's symetrical units, Relic betrayed their own principles". Everything is fine with Vikkers and MG-42 guns.

Because its not "traditional" packable HMG, but its pushed.
Its functionality is closer to the AT guns and their crews then infantry squad.

Same deal with 120mm vs normal mortars, operated only by one man, but death loop present.

Its not a designed choice when you cant fix something and decide to call it "feature". Its a bug which was ignored so much people started to take it as something normal.

It's not a deployable as MG42/34, 50cal, Vickers or even mortars. As with the 120mm, it's meant to be pushed around (simil to at guns). Again, we may not like it, but it's how it was designed.

I am willing to bet the 'deathloop' is more an unintended consequence of the animation. If infantry could teleport to the MG instead of the MG teleporting to the infantry it might work, but could be pretty functionally clumsy. But to be fair, teleporting MGs aren't exactly elegant either.
