Why bother most people amass infantry throw it head on assault into HMG and still win.
Give flanking bonus, but also improve the suppression of HMG vs large groups of infantry.
Vickers is the most expensive and useless HMG in game, it can't suppress for shit.

And here comes the first "balance dilemma".
Buff the HMG so that a single one is really a pain (meaning that when using 2-3 its simply OP'ed) or leave the HMG almost useless in order not to be a pain if used in quantities?
Hmmm... what if we had to rethink the power of infantry? If the HMG, which should be a meat-grinder for infantry, is weak to head-on mass infantry attacks then maybe its the infantry too strong! Isn't it possible?

I think an MG should be a suppression platform, not a dps platform. Only when troops are starting to hit red should the mg start to really deal good dps to these soldiers.
Why each MG is good at suppressing vs damage is beyond me. The vicker is a great HMG, it may not suppress fast but each burst kills a man generally so its more like a mobile weapons team than a suppression platform.
Flanking already has its own bonuses, generally from the side or back the enemy wont be in cover. Most cover is directional therefore they do take more dps from opposing sides.
