Has anyone been able to get this game to run in 3440x1440? I suspect it's been disabled because the field of view would give players an unfair advantage.
I have not been able to get it to run at this resolution yet.

Once i tried it and it worked... it should work with nvidia graphiccards.
But i dont recommend it. You see way to much and that slowers your reaction time in game.

The 21:9 FOV isn't disabled, and everything ingame works properly.
Cut scenes and main menus are forced 16:9 though.
Maybe something system related on your end?

Would this work in CoH1 ?
Could some players have an advantage coz of 4k or ultra wide reso ? o.O

Its not really an advantage when you think of micro.
The real advantage is to use tactical map or minimap correctly.

COH1 also has a stretched menu.
COH2 scales properly and looks like this:
red lines would be the end of a 16:9 res (approx)
In RTS it's a disadvantage IMHO. You got way too much vertical movement, and i.e. quite an annoying travel distance to minimap and screen borders, etc.

I run the game daily in 5760 x 1080 eyefinity
been playing COH2 like this since day one
works fine for me
I would say it does take extra scrolling to whip around the screen
hope you get it working as well , you wil enjoy it
Yeah, I tried it with a triple monitor display and the amount of horizontal mouse motion needed was too much. The side screens are great for first person shooters since you can spot threats in your peripheral vision, but for COH2 I just play on one monitor.
And regarding the possible advantage in COH2, the fog of war is what really mitigates that.
That being said, it should absolutely work in whatever resolution your system supports.

If your aspect ratio is the same (4k is double 1080 in both height and width) then you are simply going to see the same image but in a higher resolution. So there's no advantage, but the game looks sexy as hell because you'll get much greater detail in a similar space. This game has a lot of sexy bump mapping and stuff.

I can confirm this is correct running on 2560x1080 (21:9)

I recently switched from a 28 inch 16:10 display 1920x1200 to the Acer B326HUL 32 inch 16:9
I wanted the sharper rez 2560x1440 offered. I was hoping to find a good price for a 16:10 2560x1600 but that was impossible, so I had to 'downgrade' on total viability to get the sharper rez.
The point I'm getting at is that since I have had experience with a 16:10 layout I find it far better for all uses, games, surfing, productivity. And from what I read online basically everyone agrees that has spent time with a 16:10. As it relates to COH it allowed me to see further down field. This verticle extension of your vision is IMHO better than going extra wide. As others have said extra width doesnt give you any advantage because 16:9 is already more than wide enough. It's the 9 going to 10 in this ratio that gives the most useful stretch to your game field of view.
So all in all I'm missing the 16:10 ratio, but love the 2k rez I now have. Now I just have to cross my fingers for an affordable 2k or 4k 16:10 that is at least 32 inches.

21:9 isn't about gaining an advantage, it's about immersion with better peripheral vision. Also keep in mind that COH2 isn't the only thing you display on your fancy monitor.
Lucky us, we got a choice. Anyways, we are going OT here.
