Not at all.
Imagine double 7-8CP call-in for 450MP and 150F.
It could save you a day when you can't afford T4 and T34/85

With the shape like this I would still us a T85 over a t34 , only in case they improve the stats it would be worth to use them.

I would use Tiger over Panzer 4 all day long but it does not mean I can survive till Tiger without Panzer IV.
I would use IS2 over T34/85.
I would use Panther over Puma in every battle.
etc.
etc.
etc.
The game is deeper and more complicated than your approach.
Why people use Puma?
Why M4 Sherman if they can get E8?
Why Panzer 4 and not Tiger?

I rarely use the T34 cuz it in very bad condition, why should i spend 80 fuel for a tank that cant do nothig on the field even the ram is useless.
Why people go m10 and Pumas, it all depends on the situation,
if ur foe has a fast tank of course u will call an m10 or a puma.
