We also never really promoted it, so it doesn't help its visibility indeed.
Hans (or anyone else actually) I could regive you admin if you want to use it again and manage it.

Since nobody used it, I didn't really set channels back up or anything when we migrated server few months ago.

Could you do that?
We can promote it in streams and stuff, let's give it a second try

We as a community need to really start using the mumble sever for coh2.org as no-one is ever on it. Is this because most people don't use mumble? Maybe we need to change to TeamSpeak or Ventrillo instead. After all at the end of the Vancouver event we did agree to get together more often so let's do it!

Mumble is shit. TS rules. And ventrilo is for people who are still stuck in the 90s. (No hate, but ventrilo UI is clunky, the program, albeit easy to set up, is very annoying and the sound quality is bad)
And yes, i've used every one of them.

Would TS also be free to host on our server? Or would we have to pay for a license?

I am moving it to Hardware and Tech, but if somebody spots a better place, please move it again, or let me know.

Mumble was free to host on our server.

Unregistered you get up to 32 slots. But if you register on their site you get 512 slots. That is of course free of charge, you just have to register with like your email and stuff. Its intended for "Non-profit organizations" in the sense that you aren't making a profit from Teamspeak. It is specifically intended for "Large gaming clans/guilds, academic groups, community groups"
Then you could buy a license if you need more than 512 spots. But thats mainly intended for companies that host a Teamspeak server and rent out space on it. And 512 would probably suit Coh2.org for a while to come

Instead you would need to go for an Annual Activation Licens. Pricing is here

- Open Source
- Free Software (in every case)
- Use the open format Opus (good quality with low bitrate)
- Low-latency
- Always encrypted communication
- In-game Overlay
- Positional-Audio (don't work with CoH 2)

The mumble server is up and will remain up. Use it as you see fit! I plan to use it to coordinate the OCF All-Star game on Sept. 19th.

meeeh, its a UI change if anything to go from mumble to ts or vice-versa. Both software use OPUS and have more or less the same possibilities. TS is sometimes seen as the one with the more User-friendly UI, but difference between the two are cosmetic.
