So, the old recommendation for Coh2 is 4GB of RAM. I got 8GB and have a problem. We played about 2 matches in 4v4 with quite a good amount of action (>40mins) and we probably stopped at the right point because something wrong and the next game which I tested in cheat mode against easy AI would run with a lot of stuttering every second (probably because of the pagefile). I looked up the RAM usage in the task manager and was a bit surprised (ok, not really, I had noticed it before several times).

Here's the RAM usage (and CPU) during the game:

Restarting the game does not improve the situation - only a system restart can solve it. This problem is unique for CoH2 - I don't encounter anything like that with games such as Battlfield 4, Fallout 4, Witcher 3 etc.

It also seems like I can run those games without problems while this high RAM usage is in effect - something that doesn't count for CoH2 though.

What's the cause of this?

Could be attributed to a memory leak. When you say coh2 doesnt fix itself after you closed the program it could be just how much resource coh eats up.



Edit:

This was my Ram after loading up a 1v1 with an ez ai. The increase you see is the time when it starts to load.

Mind you I am running windows 10

It has been a issue since the opening days of COH2.....to be frank there hasn't really been anything from relic that would indicate a fix or for that matter if they believe its a problem at all.....

All i know i went to 16 gigs for coh.....because you know relic...

was like this for DoW2 as well, don't think they ever fixed it for that game either.

really? that game was super stable for me and i both put in a lot of hours and played in continuous, several hour long stretches on a laptop with 8GB of ram.

whoever designed that graph is retarded. the only number on there is 8 gigs (in the top right corner...) and you have 8GB of ram but they put 10 grid lines across...

form over function is the wrong way windows.

DOWII was supoer stable and COH2's engine is like something half-baked, heck even Rome II does not eat my RAM as much as this game.

I have 16 Go RAM, sometime he eat all my ram and create a ram dump file of 12 Go, Jesus.

I don't see a problem with COH2 there. You closed it and you were still using 6Gb of RAM...

For example, right now with Firefox (for Browsing), Chrome (watching Netflix), Steam Chat and a VPN running I'm using 3.2Gb of RAM. (Win 10)

My theory: memory leaks intentionally put into games to sell more computer parts :snfQuinn:
