Kubel worth buying?

I mean I know its cheaper now and rear armour got buffed, but it just doesnt seem to be worth the micro tax anymore. Here are some random points:

  • Utility is alot less as a support weapon now (maybe someone can show me otherwise).
  • Looks like its main use is to back cap,which is way to risky in my opinion to send a lone kubel in a shrouded area - maybe even if you react timely, Kubels poor terrain negotiation and pathing has very good chance of screwing it over.
  • It also has a very low chance of surviving past 4 minutes and goes down super early in pro games (e.g https://youtu.be/NW8OgSRjzH8?t=2m39s)
  • Its cheap and doesn't bleed
  • I also use to push (UKF IS) units out of cover early on (works pretty well sometimes if they are not supported)
  • Can be used for mine-bating - but this takes some setup time and can easily backfire - also makes you play conservatively, meaning you cant run around capping

What do you guys think. Is it worth building it or investing the 200 cp into something else?

Well there r 2 options.
In 4v4:good as an lmg and for caping points instead of delaying other units.
In 1v1 and 2v2:capturing points.okwokw

God yeah. Should always have one on the field. Just hide it in the corners of the map and sneak out to cap something annoying and then go back to hiding.

on big and wide open maps definitely yes, the capping power is game changing. In addition you can flank lone HMGs with it and force them to retreat.

Yes it is good. It cna cap your side , harras enemy cut off while your army secure key buildings and get midle of map thus givning you good position of medic house and also ability attack each part of map.

If you have good kubelmicro it is definitly worth

You should get it dudebro. It is cheap and increases your capping power, allowing you to rake in those precious OKW resources.

it is worth every MP you invest in early game. it is macro depend to keep it safe. let it stay behind your VGs during combat, it works as LMG and no MP bleed as long as it is alive.. also it is great at caping non key points at start and FU and MU points. 15% faster caping and fast speed is key in early map control, the more area you have to slight advantage in resource income you will have.

as AchtAchter states I found good way to use kubel is not rush to FU to fight at FU point immediately but instead cap other points then go to FU when fight break out. use it to move behind HMG team that is combat your sqs and I result wipe quite alot of them if they think they can tank the kubel damage first to fight infantry, take the vickers (maxim will get away as it have too many men :( ) from my opponent for own use.

I think i understood most of that. Whats FU?

So you just dive behind the mg and the enemy troops just ignore you?

FU = fuel
MU = munitions

those points takes longer to cap, but kubel will cap it faster as it got bonus.

How to properly use the Kübel:

Open, wide maps with a rather long distance to the base: Here it's the first unit you produce. You will most likely face only one infantry squad which will be in the best case a Engineer or RE. Faster capping speed means you can allocate faster resources than your enemy.

As for combined arms, keep it close to your sturmpio - why is that you might ask? You can scout ahead with a Kübel to see potential engagements that can turn in your favour, by utilizing the the sturmpio + kübel in the best way. Usually sturmpios drop models when they close in against squads behind cover, use your Kübel to push an infantry squad behind cover around, to minimize the damage it does to your sturmpio. When the sturmpio moved in close, without any damage taken, it always wins the fight. Just care not to lose your Kübel in the process.

Kübels are always annoying because they can constantly harrass cut offs, especially when used withe mechanized regiment:

Cap a cutoff, take damage in the process, drive back for repairs and proceed to cap a cutoff again. By this you can continue to use your sturmpio for fighting, mining, caping etc. without ever needing to call those guys of in order to repair a kübel.

The new Kübel allows you to push with your Sturmpioneers and first two Volks directly towards your enemy's cutoff/fuel point whilst your Kübel captures your side of the map. This approach can work in 1vs1 - not in every map though - if properly executed. (I had successfully tested it in Kholodny Ferma and will try to do so in other maps.)

Once it gets vet 1, I place it as close to front as possible and put in on detection mode. Works pretty well and have held off a few attacks.

Of course it is. It's supposed to have a subtle supporting combat utility, but instead it can 1vs1 units in light cover and often in green as well. Once the first few minutes of the game are over, use it for harrasment and once mid-game begins it can cap points behind while the rest of the army agressively pushes forward or plants mines.
BTW I once owned Soviets in 1vs1 with kubel blob :hansREKT:

Kubel is pretty useful against UKF. Instead of draining manpower in direct fights against IS, the kubel offers a nice option to harass. They can be quickly repaired and helps to capture the map extremly fast. Driving behind mgs and attack them from behind works pretty effective aswell. Later in the game it´s still useful to cap while your army is moving forward or to sneaky cut off the enemys supply line. Once you hit vet 1 you gain the vision ability which can be useful aswell. Finally it grants a great vision bonus which has several advantages specially used with support weapons.
All in all the kubel is very useful, if you can handle to micro it.

The only problem I have with the kubel is that it is hard to get it above vet 2

The map control offered by kubels is insane. I don't like them as much vs USF, but against Sov or UKF they are great.
