Flamer rifles OP plz nerf

So. It is very well known among the competitive community that rifle flamers are overperforming. However, people seem to have a very weird idea of fixing this balance issue. Most people i have seen say that flamer rifles need to be outright removed and replaced with something else, or that flamer rifles need to be their own seperate unit.


I propose a much simpler, easier solution.


Lets just simply make the flamers of riflemen weaker. This can be done in the many ways such as

1) Reducing range from 20 to 15
2) Reducing the rate of fire of the rifle flamers
3) Something else

Keep in mind that this would not affect the flamers that assault engies , pios and other flamer units have. This would simply make the rifle version of flamers weaker. From a realism perspective , this also makes some sense, as trained specialists such as pioneers or assault engineers would obviously make better use of flamethrowers than general riflemen that are not trained in specialist roles such as flamethrower usage.


Meanwhile , penal flamethrowers need buffs, they are convicted criminals, they obviously know how to use flamethrowers well :snfPeter: :sibHyena::sibHyena:

No they aren't. Infantry held flamethrowers will get a minor nerf to damage againts buildings and that's it.

Imo that's the only thing that's needed. But that's my opinion ofc :)

rifle flamers are ok because volks flamer would be OP, hmkay?

Just remove flamers for rifles, and replace it by like "Reduce the price for Bars and Zooks for rifle squad by (insert number)"

I prefer to face (faster) 2 bars rifle than face 1 Bar + 1 Flamer rifles.

Oh man, that would be RE apocalipse. Bar REs are already very good for such a cheap unit. On the other hand if usf flamers could take 2 weapon slots they could be implemented as a weapon rack instead of upgrade, it may be ok in terms of ballance.

The problem with just removing the ability is that relic is not going to remove an entire doctrinal ability and replace it with something mundane.. Plus that is like really boring.


I dont understand why nerfing the stats of the flamers is wrong.


Giving flamer to rear echelons would be disastrous.

Would you prefer a Rifle with double bar or Rifle with double flamer ? personaly, i don't hesitate a second for second option.

- Good Aoe Damage, ignore cover bonus (am i right there ?) ( "nullify" cover advantage, cause units in cover will regroup, so heavily affected by aoe weapon)
- Clear buildings
- Can set building on fire
- Can shoot througt fog of war

It's not the damage of Riflemen Flamers (and flamers in general) which cause trouble, it's the effect of them. Forcing your entire army to leave garrisons and cover and stand in the open where they get rekt. It's one thing having an enemy flamethrower on a vulnerable 4 man Engineer squad with no combat vet bonuses. You can focus it down quite easily. But facing an entire army of 3-5 durable Riflemen with Flamethrowers is just nearly impossible.

Again, specialist weapons like Flamers, Panzerschrecks, etc belong to Specialists like Engineers, Pioneers, dedicated AT squads. It's just bad design in my opinion.

The big diffrence is that you can fight Riflemen with bars with good positioning like buildings or in cover. Flamer-Riflemen completely negate that.

Remove Weapon racks and have riflemen able to upgrade BARS/30cals/zooks on the field, and i'll let them do this.
