The problem with the KV-8 is that it's pretty weak compared to the croc. The croc also is able to shoot a formidable gun. The KV-8 main gun that can be toggled is complete garbage. It MIGHT be able to kill a kube, even that I doubt.
The churchhill has lots of armor, flames and a good gun, it's weakness is price.
The UC is very cheap compared to the others, it's weakness is armor.
The KV8's one redeeming quality is it's flames...now that it's subpar...what will be the point at it's price?
With the recent nerf, they are not changing the man power cost either to counter the nerf. It's pretty much will absolutely not be worth the cost now in my opinion. It's very slow/clumsy/ and pathing it terrible for it. It's very easily countered by mines, faust, tanks, pretty anything. It can kill lone AT crews, but anything combined kills it. I'm not saying it bad right now...it does kill really good against infantry, I just don't think it will be worth the cost after the nerf.
In my opinion, in order to make it worth still getting after the flame nerf, they should give the main (non-flame) gun better damage to make it somewhat worth it to call in. Right now it's basically like throwing a stone at a tank with it.
I'm all for adding micro to a unit to maintain balance, in order to at least give a unit a purpose.

Serious? That thing was OP.
He is clearly talking about it's usefulness after the patch, we all know it was OP. We tried this unit in the test patch and it seems like it will no longer be worth getting, I like the idea of it's anti tank mode being more useful, right now there is little reason to use that considering how it wont penetrate anything but light armor.

Maybe a reduced dmg to 12 (former croc) would have been fine, but lets see.

Posted that about two times since I am active on this forum. Doesn't matter though! I have nothing to add to this thread apart from tears, how can one argue that the KV8 doesn't need nerfs

PD: it would be a fast RoF with crappy pen (100.0/80.0/60.0) It still same damage as now.

Nobody is saying it doesn't need a nerf, the relic way of nerfing things to unusefulness is what we are discussing, possibly giving it better utility or usefulness in other areas or a cost reduction, as it stands in the balance preview it probably wont be worth getting.

Everyone coming to this thread without reading and with crying "serious it's OP" lol?? I'm NOT crying saying the nerf is not warranted. I GET IT. The devs want to make more consistent damage with the flames, again I get it. That is NOT the point of this thread.
The only thing I'm arguing, and the point of the original post, and as kelton posted just above is that to counter the COST of the unit per it's new founded damage rates, they need to either make it slightly cheaper, or in my opinion make the main toggle tank gun better vs armor to give it a dual purpose with more reasonable micro. Otherwise it's going to be another unit to never be used again in my opinion. Because even right now it's typically a hard decision to build the KV8 vs two regular Russian tanks for the cost even.

Was there a dramatic cost increased when it was dramatically buffed? (No) Why would you expect a decrease in cost when it was nerfed?
With regards to improving the main gun; How it compares to the croc is irreverent. This line of reasoning ignores the vast differences between tech structures/strengths/weaknesses of each army. I would be very cautious in any movement in improving the main gun. Right now its very much a specialist, with a bit of versatility. Should it be improved too much and it would turn into a generalist unit and could discourage the combined arms design goal.
That being said I am open to the idea of an improved main gun.

It does exactly the same flamer damage as the croc at a much cheaper price, pop cap and is faster to boot with a flamer turret. The KV-8 maingun can already kill pumas and PII's.
If anything the KV-8 is now the strongest cost to performance flamer vehicle in the game.

UC dies to a single faust and an MG burst. Again KV-8 is more mobile, has a turret and can sponge more damage
In the latest patch preview they mention they are nerfing the KV8 by A LOT:
Look at the big picture, all flamer tanks have been nerfed into an equal playing field damage wise. The KV-8 sits in the perfect middle ground between price, health and excels in mobility.

Why? If I build an AT vehicle like a puma it should counter an AI flame tank. 10 damage is still good enough to melt volks and AT guns.
Maybe T3 as OKW will be worth building again now that the KV-8 is balanced. All in all I like these changes, relic are actually bringing the meta into a positive direction rather than call-in abuse.

You won't be countering a KV8 with a Puma unless you have plenty of time to hit it by kitting.
The damage remains the same, i'm just moving the penetration of the 45mm from 50 flat across the board, to the same values of the crap small AT gun who nobody uses. 10 more pen at max range WOW!

yes i am here Kappa and i think thats an overnerf. KV8 should be 13 damage.
