Stuka Dive Bomb AoE... Has it been buffed indirectly?

Thanks to Casparitus for the image.

Thanks to A_E for the Video.

So, having been on the end of it, just like in this case, or having an AT gun trying to get out of the way of it once the siren starts (and failing constantly), has its AoE been buffed somehow?

I've been waiting for a moment like this for a long time, due to being too lazy to make video etc.

Yeah.. I don't think it's supposed to be doing that. That's a way bigger AoE then a 240mm or railway.

That's what I thought. Any file diggers able to expand? Relic are you there?

It got an absolutely MASSIVE aoe buff last patch. Same with railway arty.
240mm got nerfed pretty bad though.

Was this intentional? I can't remember anything in the notes about it?

Found me a new thing to abuse. Cause CAS wasn't bad enough already. Relic: 1 step forward 3 steps back.

yes the aoe was changed. it was hidden in the long list so you may not have noticed it.

What was the thinking behind the change then? What exactly was wrong with it before?

It's a mini nuke since ... already quite some time. CAS just fell out of meta so not many have noticed it's lethality.

Well, I've trawled back through all the patch notes, and I'm yet to see any mention of SDB AoE change? Ninja, are you sure you're correct?

I remember Cruzz bringing it up in one of the ninja patch notes.

Added a couple of extra weapons to the changed list:

Sturmtiger aoe distance from 2.5/5/7.5 to 2/4/6, damage far modifier from 0.3 to 0.05 (decent nerf)

Ostheer Fragmentation bombs aoe distance 3/4.5/6 to 3/6/9, mid damage from 0.15 to 0.35 (large buff)

Stuka bomb strike aoe distance from 3.75/5.625/7.5 to 3.75/7.5/11.25, mid damage from 0.15 to 0.35 (large buff)

Why the fuck has Relic done this?

Weird. It could have been buffed because i remember some patch notes about bringing ability AoE's in line with their animation. I know that was the reasoning for railway arty and the AOE decrease to 240mm (or maybe I'm making stuff up?) They could have done the same for the stuka, except the way CAS is complained about in this game they decided to ninja it instead?

The other option is to buff abilities that are easy to dodge to make them worthwhile?

But who knows for sure. I thought it seemed to be destroying buildings a little easier in team games, but CAS really isn't meta anymore so I don't see it very often.

comparison film.

From what I can see, it seems to be changed so that damage is dealt within the outter smoke/debris rings.

which means it now needs to either be much more expensive (~~250mun), needs to be easier to dodge (make it take longer to land?) or the AoE needs to go back down.

And a large red arrow with "Warning, stuka bomb!" on it pointing at the landing zone, too. Please, Lelic. :S
