Why does my ostwind stay at 1 shot left for 1 minute and then has to instantly reload after taking 1 shot?

If a unit is out of combat for as much as max reload time, it should reload its gun

I cant count the times my Sturmpioneers were up close and personal, fire...2,3 shots, reload. a model dies. gg

MG or all HMG should reload after the combat. Too many times it happened that blob is coming and my HMG fires 2 shots and starts to reload.

Because it becomes stationary while reloading. It's up to the player to chose where to safely reload.
The shot is an ability in a sense but really what the sturmtiger is all about, so the argument becomes to change the design of the unit then. Does the AVRE have auto-reload? Regardless, redesigning the unit will probably require considerations I might not be aware of so I simply assume it is designed the way it is for a reason. And so, then, it cannot auto-reload.

Because ammunition was valuable and noone uses partially emptied belts? (responding to the HMG stuff) :P

Remember BF1942? You shoot once, reload and lose the whole magazine, basically. To avoid that, CoH2 units tend to empty a magazine entirely before reloading. Remember you can always tell the unit to attack some object or whatever. When it stops firing, press Stop. Voilà! :P

Actually what we forgot to mention was that also the weapon crew will be eight. Four of them will work full time putting in new bullets in the belt that was removed due to having shot a few rounds off :D

I like it. Double the MP cost of every HMG unit but make it always having a full magazine after 2 seconds of not shooting. :P

I've said it before, gonna say it again.

I've been begging for this since WFA Alpha. I started a thread, talked about MGs reloading inconsistently blah blah blah. Then other people mentioned units like Ostwin and LMGS... but here we are. Believe me or not, I even ask them to add a "Face" button for MGs in buildings!

This is very very important for MGs.

I too think it would be a very nice function for all units (uh, aside from the Sturmtiger) to automatically reload their weapons after being declared out-of-combat.

HMGs might need a bit more tweaking to have that work though since they have to set-up to reload unlike other weapons. Though if they can just magically make everyone's magazines/clips full after they are out-of-combat, no problem there then.
