Grenadier Pop Cap

At the beginning of CoH2, Gren was like the old vCoH Gren, too much powerful AI squad despite their cost.
Some people didn't even upgrade lmg42 and spam them because kar98 itself was enough.

But they've been changed and balanced through the several patches. Their range and LMG effectiveness, body armor, and the latest rifle grenade...
They are now in the good place.


But this still remains like the poison:(

At the patch note of April 24th, 2014

These changes slightly reduce the efficiency of the Grenadier squad. The intent is to reduce Grenadier blobbing and encourage the use of combined arms.
Population from 6 to 7


The days of spamming grens was gone long time ago, and everybody loves to do combined arms as a Ostheer.
And this, 4-man squad, already suffering high reinforcement cost because of the squad size, should suffer the biggest pop cap among the backbone infantry unit of all factions?

Somebody might say 'Because your LMG...', but I don't thinks that's enough reason for Grens to have 7 pop cap.

I heard British faction's tommy will have 4-man in its squad but later five
(but I don't know about the pop cap)
But when ALL other faction enjoys the benefit of survivability of larger squad,
Grens should cost less pop cap than now, and adequate number would be 6.

No, grens are the best infantry and Ost has 420 starting MP. Any reduction in pop cap would further buff one of the strongest factions.

I don't know, is that why 1vs1 Top200 win rates have been the lowest most of the time after the last patch?

The win rates are probably off because of fast M5, which OKW is able to handle a little bit better than Ost. But that has nothing to do with the effectiveness of grens.

Meh, grens are still the strongest mainline infantry in the game, and people still spam them. The pop cap increase to 7 didn't even change anything

It just mean Ost is not the strongest faction in 1vs1.

Ost is the only faction can't produce the backbone infantry from the T0 building.

because of building T1 time and MP.

Gren might be the best main infantry for the lmg, but no other than that.
Without lmg, they suck for their survivability and reinforcement bleeding.
And...-1 pop cap gonna make Ost much more powerful?
Most players make 3~4 grens at 1vs1. So, -3 popcap... hmm much powerful?

280mp riflemen, highest dps for the main infantry(without automatics duh), 5 men, 7 pop, 28 mp to reinforce
240mp cons, weak but beats grens at short range, 6 men, 6 pop, 20mp to reinforce
240mp gren, strong but only with lmg, 4 men, 7 pop, and 30 mp to reinforce

I can understand reinforcement cost when they have lmg, but without it, that cost bleeds mp a lot.
AND more pop cap for lower mp income.

By the word SPAM, you mean... make them up to 3~4 squads at a game? (and even fewer models)
Like... every other faction does?

The reason they changed it is because of spamming, and that reason was gone for the long time.
Nerfing for the lost reason. Sounds like bullying Grens :D

Holy wehraboo, lol judging by your responses to everyone it's clear your mind is already made up and you're just looking to argue.

One fucking pop, one. For the most cost efficient and with one of the best upgrades in the game.

Guess the sniper buff, pio sight buff, MG buff, and MP buff wasn't enough.

While we're at it, let's make Tiger Ace at 9 CP, it's only fair.

Right? :)

well i rather want relic change something else, this is like lowest priority thing they should look at.

USF need rework, and 50call need change, Quad need some balance, many many things in the game need address. 3 pop is not nearly as important, under the fact most games you can't reach full pop.

That's right, buuuut it's not hard to change this thing.
And this is a Relic's simple mistake, why not?

(Unless Relic give us a further explanation about this pop cap)
