I know I asked this before, but does anyone have an updated system requirements for it? I loved Fallout 3 and New Vegas, I want to play this game too, I just hope it won't require a NASA computer to play it.

Official requirements have just been released:

Minimum
Windows 7/8/10 (64-bit OS required)
Intel Core i5-2300 2.8 GHz/AMD Phenom II X4 945 3.0 GHz or equivalent
8 GB RAM
30 GB free HDD space
NVIDIA GTX 550 Ti 2GB/AMD Radeon HD 7870 2GB or equivalent

Recommended
Windows 7/8/10 (64-bit OS required)
Intel Core i7 4790 3.6 GHz/AMD FX-9590 4.7 GHz or equivalent
8 GB RAM
30 GB free HDD space
NVIDIA GTX 780 3GB/AMD Radeon R9 290X 4GB or equivalent

I'm excited for Fallout4... but will it be a port from console? Or will it be designed for PC? You guys have me concerned. Weren't the previous Fallout's designed for PC?

The UI will probably be the same for pc and consoles, ergo not optimized for pc use.
While this is pretty frustrating in the beginning, modders have mostly solved UI problems in Fallout 3 and New Vegas and will probably do so in Fallout 4.

I'm both hyped and on the fence.

I loved FO2, I liked FO3 because it was a reboot and an interesting world to see in "3D".

However, the transition from FO2 to FO3/FO:NV was a bit rugged. The VATS just didn't cut it gameplay-wise. The kill-scenes, gore and fighting all together didn't truly take FO2 into the FO3 era, to be honest.

On top of that, I'm getting tired of Bethesda's recipe; "open world, stupid story and epic "monsters" with lackluster gameplay". Skyrim's dragons were incredible - until you actually fought them, then they were just a big lump of HP.

It sells, it gets modders invested - but I'm still looking back at Morrowind's story and vCoH's gameplay-quality innovation with longing eyes.

Bethesda is a console first company since Fallout 3. Fallout 4 is an Xbone port just like TES V Skyrim was an Xbox 360 port...

TES IV Oblivion was their last game that wasn't horrible dumbed down and gutted so it could run on Consoles.

So don't expect a good UI, or excellent graphics/Optimization for Fallout 4

Current gen consoles are already so outdated they can't even run games 1080p 60 fps, they settle for 30 fps.

From what I've seen the gameplay mechanics are being gutted even further, no skills, only perks.
Dogmeat can't die.
Too much focus on a crafting system and sims like "build your own house features"(à la Hearthfire).

It's casualized as hell!

Also Bethesda can't successfully portray the dark satirical world of Fallout very well.
F3 and F4 looks so cheesy and over the top in comparison to F1 & F2. They just throw gory VATS and 50s music and call it a day.
Because they can't set the mood and atmosphere right for this genre, again it's gonna be up to modders to implement a proper survival system: deadly radiation, seeking shelter, food and scavenging (Like Frostfall, iNeed, Wet & cold -ashes Skyrim mods). This is what really sets in a wasteland survival atmosphere not a freaking green hue/tint.

However they do Sword & Sorcery much much better, I'm an Elder Scrolls Fan.

Anyways I'll keep a close eye on this game only to see what they do with mods after the paid mods fiasco. Are they going to try to implement it properly this time?

Bethesda games have sadly devolved into providing a solid sandbox for modders to play with and and truly develop the game.

But hey I'm the kind of person that plays a hardcore Skyrim with the Requiem overhaul and over 170 plugins...

P.S: Good advice with Bethesda games is to wait for the first two patches before starting a game, unless you want to eventually lose that very first character to broken quests, several bugs and save game bloat! Even better, waiting for the unofficial patches one year down the road lol

Let Obsidian handle FO, make it something like PoE gameplay and everybody will be happy. FO is meant to be 2D not FPS/RPG hybrid like Bethesda doing. In Obsidian we trust.

The Witcher 3 looks ALOT like Fallout 4. I think the tech is not too different. The Witcher 3 is amazing, but the gameplay is repetitive.

So there is a "Season Pass" to future DLC for another 30 EUR? :( What's that all about. Do we have any idea what that will be?

Its the pass for all future dlcs. Its a little ridiculous though, considering the base game isnt even out yet.

BTW. FALLOUT 4 LAUNCH TRAILER IS OUT

saw a reliable reddit page comparing map sizes using the grid information of fo3, skyrim and fo4.

fo4 is considerably bigger than fo3 but noticeably smaller then skyrim.

however there won't be as much mountains and other fillers.

arent the new console gen closer to pc in framework? so i imagine less bug across.

is it me or am i the only one who did not experience game ruining bugs playing bethesda games like ever? i played oblivion and fo3, skyrim at launch.

on the perk system, it is not there to dumb down the game, it is to make leveling up more tangible and specialised.

i cant believe you are bashing on deep crafting system and settlement system both of which are completely optional and labelling them as "casual". dafuq?

spoiler about fo4 (not story but a feature):

I take this back, it's not as good as the witcher 3 or does it look like it. It's not that good graphically or detail- in fact it looks dated for 2015. The story/gameplay hopefully will compensate.

I've seen quite a lot of a live stream. I would say that the game feels more like a sequel to F03 with added features than a next gen game. It has more details than F03 but not hugely more. It is so, so similar that the hype doesn't really match it. But more F03 is a good thing...

The engine they used to develop it is sadly dated. Character facial expressions/animations are dated. The AI appears to be decent, though. Graphics are the weakness- they look more like a game from 2010 and are last gen. It is also glitchy- I watched the boston city elements and spotted several glitches in a short period of time.

the streamer was still using intermediate gear and he had clocked 20 hours already.

true. the face animation shown in the new trailer is even more atrocious.

however, the detail part, you are wrong. in witcher 3 (great game and i love it), the first thing i noticed was how the dropped loots are shown as just some bags. in fallout, all loots actually have visuals, all loot can be used in crafting system, loots are more varied and numerous (from tires, clocks to weapons). i see at least the triple the amount of varied environment/npc then in witcher 3, actual dungeons.

sure, the engine is showing its age conspicuously but not detailed it is not.

hmmph. you're right about that.

With fo4, I got to say that it is odd that this highly hyped up game had been built on a dated engine. I saw the stream in high res (streamer was using ULTRA settings) and the graphics were still quite old looking.

Also from all the content I've seen (including the stream), the items, enemies, interface are mostly the same as FO3 or derived from old designs.

Watching some of those character dialogs in the last trailer you posted reminded me of... *ahem, cough* the coh2 campaign. :O :(
