I don't think volks should be changed. OR, if you really must change something:

Create a specialised tank hunter squad for okw buildable from medic building if you want, that is armed with a default shreck and make it cost more manpower. They should have only one shreck, good accuracy and count 4 models. As for volks, a G43 upgrade would be appropriate (2 or 3) to increase their medium/far range performance.

These changes will prevent blob and increase combined arms.

Volks should be bad, just I wish they got some stgs as an ai package. Would be great. Or just give the squad leader an stg44.

Volks at 280 mp or even just 260 mp even with some eventual AI upgrade at their current stats is flat out absurd, full stop. OKW has a hopelessly weak early game as is....

True but they cant fire while sprinting and the enemy can just soft retreat to allied forces.

AGs may be poor, but things aren't going to get tickled when they sprint right next to them and shoot at them. Not to mention it's a bit tough to soft retreat against something that outruns you...pretty much only Scripts have any chance of it with Oorah!, and they'd be fairly lucky to manage it without still losing about half of their health.

Then don't give volks grens mp40s without a sprint ability.

I'm just getting the sense from ya that AEs are completely useless in combat, who are also a bit poor Demo Charges-aside, but I'd remain not agreeing with that concept.

Demo charges aside? Assault Engies are only good because they can make demos. AEs and AGs arent useless in combat but when taking into account their cost and their combat role effectiveness (flanking), they are extremely shadowed by other stock unit alternatives (Pgrens and Rifles respectively).

Volks are volks. To get that AI going remember you have Jaegers, Falls, and Obers. Though sadly I find Obers to be best with lmg upgrade early on. Everything else is good once it gains vet 2 or above. :foreveralone:

The obernerfed obers are still not too bad. I dont know what to think of them. They aren't so terrible that I think they need buffs, but they aren't that great either. You gotta put in a lot of resources into just one squad that can only fight infantry. The least they could do is put stg price at 60 muni rather than 90 considering the large 25% damage nerf.

Could increase the price of Volks to 240 and then giving them a lmg34 that should be similiar to the lmg42. There's no problem in having different weapon stats, a lot of soviet units function like this.

The lmg can't be fired on the move and does only half dps when out of cover (to discourage blobbing). For that it needs to cost 45 muni however and you need 2 trucks deployed.
Also upgrading to a lmg should disable the Schreck, to encourage combined arms.

I never liked the schreck on the Volks, in my opinion there should have been an AT squad, equiped with 2 Anti tank rifles that can be upgraded to Schrecks. There's a mod that does this and it turns out very nice.

Sturmpios are not suited for the Schreck because then they have simply too much roles : Repair, Mine detection, mine laying, fighting and Schrecks? To much purposes concentrated on one squad.

Also laughing at all that people that suggests mp40, they are weak as fuck in this game and would be rather a downgrade (unless you make them have the dps of shocks) Volks have no abilities to close in, it would be simply missplaced on them.
Morever with sturmpios you already have a unit that fills this assaulting purpose with a weapon profile that is more similiar to SMGs than to a mid range assault rifle.

I don't want to see more lmgs. I would like to see an STG upgrade package to give volksgrens 3 Pgren STGs, so that they become a powerful force at mid, close range. This would make sense in terms of the historical usage of volksgrenadiers and also fit more in their useage in game. This way, the Ostheer and OKW base infantry aren't just clones in the lategame. We already have obers for long range firepower.

Thematically LMG's make very little sense in OKW anyway. Every OKW unit having StG's of varying qualities would make more sense due to the fact at that point in the war Germany used heavy amounts of automatic weaponry to make up for being forced to use smaller forces.

Just give Volks a 90 munition Anti-freeze 3 StG package after you have 2 trucks deployed. If you want it you can't get a shrek until you have a Schwer which means you will have a harder time fighting vehicles.

I'm not really a fan of increasing Volks MP either. They're pretty ho-hum to be honest all round until they get the shrek. Aggressive allied play can shut them down pretty well. It's the Kubelwagen and Sturmpios that really keep Allies completely under control.
If volks are going to be made to cost more, they need to be worth that price increase. The only way I can see that happening without them becoming mirrors of rifles is if they were to have a very cheap variety of upgrades.

I agree with the sentiments of others as well regarding the MP40. Whilst not the most stellar of SMGs, it still deserves to be actually half decent. It needs a buff and pioneers need to perhaps be nerfed in some other way to compensate...

Anyone remember March 2014?

...I personally kinda wanted that combat effectiveness to more or less stay and increase their cost a bunch, but that'll definitely never happen in a world with Sturmpioneers. That's their thing.
