The whole "Have fun with 100% chance to pen AP shells" is a tad bit wonkey considering the entire reason it HAD ACPR shells was because of the anemic pen.

While I can see both sides of the coin, I believe the Jackson needed this buff. Although personally I would have lowered the damage to 160. I don't see why the panther shouldn't fear the pinnacle of Usf anti armour, the Jackson can't do anything else. My concern is for the tiger which will be bullied completely by the Jackson now.
Also you can't fault allied players for being happy about these changes, it was quite clear most of them were needed. Axis heavies have enjoyed their armour vs. penetration discrepancies for too long.
Who wants to bet searching % will change soon? I guess axis units aren't as cool as they used to be.

At long range, 200 / 310 = 64% to pen.
In order for 2 Jackson to twoshot a Panther all four shots need to penetrate. Chance for that is (0.645 ^ 4) which is around 0.13
So your "most of the time" boils down to 13% of the time or one in eight encounters.
One,ur ignoring 2nd shot takes place at mid or close where panther tries to close in to actually land hits on jackson.There chance goes up.
Two,even if its takes one more shot,its a roll for the jackson against the shit DPS of panther which can maybe get one 160 dmg shot off between the interval of 4rth and 5-6th shots.It will be a total faceroll.
And whats more getting 2 jacksons is easier than getting a panther as ost with its tech costs.
Tiger is already helpless vs jacksons,now even more so.
Pz 4 -lol.
THen there's the p-47 skillplane 'backup'.
Already we have no lategame inf or answer to paras with LMGs.
Artillery locked out and shit.
Earlygame teching still pathetic.
Overall it is a meaningless patch for ostheer.It would be best if relic removed ostheer from the changelog altogether than try to fool people into believing something substantial actually changed.

Well, the Jackson will be a lot easier to vet up now they have a much higher pen chance versus all Axis armor.
Also you can't fault allied players for being happy about these changes, it was quite clear most of them were needed. Axis heavies have enjoyed their armour vs. penetration discrepancies for too long.
Axis had better armor versus pen because axis mediums don't exist or are not viable. Costly heavies SHOULD be well armored.

I, for one, always liked 222s, so this is welcome. I sometimes attempted to use the Ost sniper, so I will have more reason to keep trying. Third, I always teched to P4 because I don't like playing meta, so now that Jacksons are less effective against T3, it's definitely an improvement for my Ost play.

I am, however, concerned at the things that were left out. Callin meta, Su76, CAS, p47 skillplanez... Imagine if now we have to wait until October for the next balance patch.

Ahhh, the patchnotes. I must say that I agree with most of them, but I feel like the PTRS buff is too much and the Jackson needs only 160 dmg with the pen buff, but that of course remains to be tested in game. I very much like the buffs given to ostheer, and like the idea behind suppression for field howitzers. I am a bit suprised that obers did not get a price decrease with the loss + nerf of the lmg34.
The targettable demo charges is also very nice, as was the huge buff the raketens.
I'm looking forward to ostheer snipers surviving bazooka rounds to the face :}
Also, does anyone know if this means cons PTRS from the tank hunter doctrine got buffed?

The PTRS does 40 damage so if it hits any soldier models under half health it is going to produce a potentially sizable amount of overkill that reduces it's effective DPS.

Well, then don't try to close in with your Panther?
Lay down some mines, use your Panther to engage other vehicles your opponent got and when the Jackson shows up use PaKs as support.
Why should you be able to kill a Jackson just by right-clicking into it?

The effort in these patch notes remind me of a British university student in his first year who does a last minute all nighter to get his assignment done since he only needs 40% to pass.

Whatever you say,ostheer without tech costs fix is not viable as a faction...if we have to wait for october for that..its better just to delete the faction till then.This is a irrelevant patch as far as ost players are concerned.A few scraps were thrown to the dogs as a reward for months of barking.

Just wanted to point out that with the Jackson on the field you will know the Pain of USF when Paks or Panthers are on the field. All Pen all Day every day straight to HPs. Better get good at your tank micro. (still think it should do 160 a shot not 200)
And post the numbers I am too tired to look. If they are then LOL without a decrease in MP cost...
The PTRS's are fine as they are. Whenever i'm up against Guard Infantry, I always have to be careful with my vehicles or the Guards will completely destroy them. Good range, good damage and fairly cheap; if anything, the PTRS should nerfed since it's ridiculously good for the price. Even in the hands of Conscripts, the PTRS's are extremely potent.
