General multi task usage.

Be a bit excessive with tabs, and / or programs, and you easily reach the 8 GB before ever starting a game. I agree with you on the "8GB are enough for gaming" part, and if he likes to multi task like i do, or others here, he can easily upgrade.

I'd get 16GB for CoH2. The game has some memory leak issues so you easily reach 8GB after a few games.

Thanks for the posts guys. Yea, I'll get some extra ram if I feel like I need it.

About the build it yourself posts, it will be for the next one. I'm just switching from a 15 years experience of gaming on apple computers to a real gaming pc. Didn't had the will to build my first ever pc.

what games do you play other than coh2? do you convert a lot of videos or do you do a lot of photo editing?

depending on that you might get a different PC:
some new games use more than 3.5 gigs and at that point the gtx970 will be absolutely not cost-efficient and might provide a lot of microlags and a bad framerate. a r9 290x might be the way to go then...
