Just reading the "Remember when" thread and remember that there was this cool awesome Soviet wire that soldiers would have to crawl under. What happened to it? Just lying in the gamefiles now, unused?

Pathing was supposedly a problem with it. I don't know why, it seemed to work fine whenever I used it.

Remember hearing it was kinda buggy, not only pathfinding. I think this is one of those things that could give a bit more flavour to the defensive commanders.

I've been playing CoH2 since alpha and I never liked it. A lot of people didn't like it at the time, which is why they switched it for the normal wire. It's the kind of thing that sounds cool on paper, but just doesn't really work that well.

It was a great thing to use for flamer ambushes. Get onto their retreat path, lay a set of wire, and have your flamethrower engineers waiting for the retreating gren squads to try crawl through :D

One of the bigger issues I recall was that units retreating through the wire moved super slow and were therefore easy to wipe out.

Back then light vehicles could not crush wire, and you could spam the soviet wire all over the map in seconds, so you would see the whole center on pripyat full of wire in 2 mins to the game, and lasting there until Medium/heavy tanks arrived ( i remember retreating units runninq through the wire at normal travel speed without the retreat speed bonus, but i might be wrong )

... 2 minutes of OKW wire is like 2 feet of wire.

The soviet wire worked like S-mines

1% finished okw wire take conscripts like 30 sec to destroy it by targeting. that was what i was implying albeit not exactly similar.

Since when does OKW wire slow you down instead of just stopping you?

....since when does OKW wire slow you down instead of just stopping you? The two things cannot even be compared.
