Mortar smoke barrage not firing

Sometimes (very frequently actually) when you attempt to use a mortar smoke barrage the ability will activate but the mortar team will freeze and never actually start shooting smoke. It also breaks their ability to auto-fire for a long time.


Edit: I found a way to replicate it. If you target an area close to max range with smoke barrage it will bug out. It also seems to happen only with the Wehrmacht mortar teams.

I seem to remember the smoke barrage activating the normal barrage on the Wehrmacht mortar, but this was before the patch and happened very seldom

I can attest to it. Last game I swear I ordered for a smoke barrage and some HE shells landed as well.

Bump, this, along with grenades not triggering, are the most infuriating bugs.

I heard Theres a shortage for smoke rounds and at the request of the Fuhrer all smoke should be allocated in large amounts for tanks and their defensive smoke.

SO when the crew is firing HE,they're doing their absoulute best to listen to your order,they just dont have enough smoke to shoot.

Dont blame relic,blame war shortages.

IMO smoke also needs to fire faster. I often wanted to do a nice push covered by smoke but the mortar literally needs about 30 seconds until the first smoke pops out. It's mostly too late then.

oh and btw, i tried to use usf mort halftrack and it bugged and didnt fire for the rest of the game.

and sometimes, holdfire on mortars get stuck. can't un-holdfire them.

Finally, the game is realistic!

Making them absolutely reliable in placement, like Smoke Bombs, would be nice too. I remember a long time ago placing a smoke barrage in front of an MG crew only to find it could still shoot at my units right on its center...that was embarrassing.

This. And also MGs suppressing while their vision is supposed to be blocked by smoke.

I've since had this happen with the soviet mortar too, but it's a lot less common and I don't know how to replicate it

Wow...this bug.

But seriously improvements on smoke would be really nice. Placement and speed of fire should be drastically increased. I need smoke at a location within 10 secs or its not worth it. The longer I spend setting up an attack the more likely I am to be seen so it needs to be quick, since I may not attack exactly where smoke is, I might just use it to distract a player.
