swastikas are never going to be added, get over it.

You need to read more. I'm talking about all countries getting more realistic flags. Not just Germany but Russia and the USA. If Germany stays the same or changes I don't care. it was an idea I had that I thought I'd share with a few examples so get down off your high horse.

SS Panzer Division, such original name, never seen anyone in CoH2 automatch with anything similar before :snfBarton:

Funny how the trolls seem to be mostly American. I guess that comes with freedom of speech huh?

There's a simple reason for this — in Germany, Russia and some other countries the display of anything Nazi-related in public is prohibited unless it's for educational, artistic or scientific purposes, plus a lot of other contexts. This allows for the use of these symbols in World War II-set films (which are considered art — yes, even Indiana Jones). Children's toys are not covered by these exceptions.

So pretty much this means that only in video games you can't use the nazi swastika, which is dumb itself when the hammer and sickle is fine and all,I don't know if it was because of 50 years of propaganda or people are simply ignorant about the atrocities commited by the soviets, so I'd say it's about time they all get banned or allowed.

I'd say quite a few of that comes from the complete lack of understanding, common sense and often(but not always) from lack of proper education on the subject.

Being able to say anything and knowing what to say are two different things.
Also, you are not allowed to say everything either even with your freedom of speech, but since you're intelligent enough to know that you're a troll, you should already know that.

@Ace of Swords
swastica is a political, not military symbol and ss was a political police, not what nazi germany army was based on.

My apologies. It's very frustrating to ask for what people think of the idea then get a bunch of people who just want to troll and fight instead of try to have a civil conversation.

There you go

edit: I don't really know what you are requesting to be honest. The Faction insignia (at loading screens) are all accurate. Hammer and Sickle on a red five-point star, Iron cross, and Flaming sword in shield for USF.

If you mean VP flags those are relative to the player, red for held by enemy and blue for held by allies. Is it that you want changed?

You need to understand that those symbols are not banned because of countries that used them and because of things that those countries did but becouse of ideology that is behind them. Nazism is about killing people, or even whole races. Communism is about equality (in its bases it's very positive and has nothing to do with totalitarianism, it was just directed the wrong way). And thats what makes symbols of those ideologies treated in different ways.

Disclaimer: Im not nazi, anti-nazi, communist or anti-communist.

Well most countries that have banned swastikas only ban the PUBLIC display of them. As in you can't walk around a street with a nazi-style swastika or fly it over your house. In many countries the same goes for hammer and sickle.
But it is only that in Germany basically any entertainment can't have them. So devs don't want to loose out on that 80 million people market.

In my opinion, historical accuracy is more important than political correctness in games , but hey that's just me.

It isn't political correctness it is have the game sold in certain countries or having it banned.

New posts work for me.

Yes, those are what I am talking about. When you make a forward HQ and the 4 flags around it just look silly, for all sides. The blue and red flags I think should be changed to what the countries flag was at the time. and you could add a blue or red glow to it.

First things first: Some of you are working very hard to get this post closed.

Second of all: Symbolism is all too real. The issue is not of political correctness, but of human nature. The creation, recognition, and use of symbols in human communication is fundamental. It's called semiotics, and it has to do with "meaning making."

There are real laws in place, and there are real people whose families, lives, and well being were harmed by Nazi Germany. Should they be marginalized in the name of "realism" or "anti-political correctness"?

Your tone deafness is immediately apparent because you have named yourself after the SS, a wing of the Nazi party responsible for the mass murder of millions of people. If you enjoy historical references to actual army units, there are many you could have chosen without associating yourself with psychopathic murders. Was every SS member a murder? No, but you are not doing yourself or the world any good by naming yourself in such a way.

COH2 is an arcade game, not a simulator, and not a historical account of the war. You should tread lightly when asking for Nazi party imagery to be used in a game, especially with its popularity in both Germany and Russia. Two countries who know better than most about the atrocities committed (BY BOTH SIDES) and the effect they have on the people who make up their communities.

See? What you are saying doesn't make sense, the national socialist idea was about national unity and as such it did promote the german race as the best one, just like fascism was about making Italy as great as it was at the time of Rome, I.E the best one, that's also what USA propaganda is doing nowdays.

Now, you are looking at nazism not at the ideology itself but at what the regime and hitler did when they were in charge (WW2,the holocaust, and various other massacres), If we were to apply the same way of thinking to communism, then the communist ideology is about shutting the free speech down, killing or deporting anyone that doesn't agree to the ideology, a total disregard for your own men's life which ends with a body count perhaps as high a 60million of people killed between gulags and in-action by suicide charges.

Why im writing all of this? Because the first thing one thinks when he sees the swastika is the holocaust, but that symbol is not what caused the holocaust, it's not the one that executed it either, it was the work of a madman with a twisted mind.

But yet, when one sees the communist symbol, all it comes to mind is the perfect happy place where the common folk could live happily as it was a paradise, and it was very very far from that.

It's a stereotype portrained mainly by games, it's like "oh no you can't have a swastika because it's the symbol of all evil incarned in the world!" which it really isn't, I mean hell, in the link I showed in my previous post it even explain that current neo nazi groups use the Imperial Germany symbol as their flag.

I want to add, that no, im not a nazi, im not a communist either, but I try and WANT to look at history in an objective way and my desire is for other people to able to do the same, and as I've pointed out before, this stereotype of the swastika needs to end once for all and guilt must be given to those that truly deserve so.

If OP had a diffrent nickname this thread would be more serious.. But yeah Relic not gonna add swasticas etc. because they are banned in Europe and Russia etc.. And they arent needed. I would prefer realistic uniforms. And really germans didnt have those in their tanks, they had only balkenkreuz
