Personally, the B4 is probably the only unit in the game I would really call downright overpowered.

Sure, people do complain about ISU152s and Jagdtiger, but facing those I at least have a way of dealing with no matter my choice of doctrine and commander. With the B4, that is not the case, as without off-map artillery to counter it, it can practically sit close to the base wiping unit after unit or even the enemy's base...


Please, tell me how Soviets should counter JT if they go for ml20,partisans or anything without call ins or b4?
This is coh2, you use doctrinal counters.
I dont see problem if KT has 60%. If marked, how the hell he hit you? Unless they marked you and you were standing in one place.
60sec byt very slow rotation.
In teamgames its your fault that you dont have Stuka.

You guys do realize.. it is possible to one shot a JT,KT,TA with B4 at vet3 when the tank is at 100% without the need of your ally using mark target.

the derailment! axis fanboys calling for removal of the b4, because its suppossed to be totally op. allied fanboys trying to tell us you cant win without it and that it doesnt work against good players (how does that make any sense?)

but since were here:
its not op at all. its vet ability paired with his vet 3 bonus might be a litte to strong (again im against everything that increases dmg values), but thats about it. the thing is fine and fun to use/play against (keeps you on your fucking toes).
but claiming it is totally inaccurate and can only hit a bad players units isnt right either... if you manage to preseve your units till your opponent can cuilt b4s, youll probably have like 10+ units running all over the place... try to pay attention to every single one once a b4 fires... but i guess u are all better players than me if i get hit by it and you dont

Well, mostly Jagdtigers are lost to combined arms pushes of infantry and medium armor, although of course doctrinal counters like the T34/85s, Mark Target, Button, the P47 strafe run etc. are the most effective ways to get rid of it. In contrast to the ISU152, the Jagdtiger is harmless against infantry, so hitting it with an anti-tank grenade will further aid the medium tanks rushing it.
Look, nobody claims taking out the Jagdtiger before it has too much of an impact is an easy thing, but it is at least a quite possible one.

With the B4, I often don'T feel that's the case. You say it is okay if one needs doctrional counters for a unit, yet the OKW does not even have those doctrinal counters in the repertoire of their three base commanders. This leaves moving your units up to directly engage it as the only option, which more often than not simply will not be possible.
Even if he OKW player builds a Stuka zu Fuss - which means he/she is delaying the arrival of his/her tanks by quite a bit given the OKW's fuel income rate - he/she'll most likely have to go further behind enemy lines than someone taking out a Jagdtiger - and with a defenseless unit, not a medium tank.

I also think the B4s damage potential cannot be compared to that of the ISU152 and Jagdtiger, which serve more to deny an area to enemy armor infantry or armor: If there is a heavy hitter of that type on the field, I can avoid engagements in that area and find ways to keep it out of the game even if I cannot counter it. If a player doesn't have a way to quickly counter the B4 though, it doesn't matter where and what engagements happen: Every unit on the larger part of the map and (on the smaller maps) even the base is in danger.

(A sidenote: I also don't understand why people keep writing about damage caused by the B4 being the opponent's fault as their units were standing still. Since when does an infantry force or a slow moving heavy tank have to stand still to get severely damaged by the B4?)

It is not possible. The JT/KT have 1280 hitpoints (the amount of damage it can take before it gets destroyed) and the B4 only does 940 damage with a clean hit at vet 3.

Last game I try to counter B4 with two of my own howitzers. Who won ? B4 with zero problems. B4 is way over the line. Russians dont need to it counter axis heavy tanks. It is just another proof how bad are some Relic "design decisions" and balance changes.

The math is somewhere in the thread. Iirc, one-shotting a JT is possible with any two out of: vet 3, Mark Target, FtML, FHQ aura.

I appreciate the time and effort. But your point being?

B4 is not a reliable counter to OKW heavies. It's hit or miss most of the time. The "OP" ability requires it to be built too close and also costs a fackload of Munis, so it will be situational at best. Needless to say you have to actualy pay 4$ to get it, and no it's not necessarily a pay-to-win unit. Far from it.

So anyone asking for a nerf needs to chill, and play a few games against CPU-Easy.

Plus Mark Target 940 X .30 = 282. 282 + 940 = 1222 = Still less than 1280. Jagdtiger doesn't get destroyed :D

Vet 3 B4 = 960 damage
Mark Target = 35%
= 1296 damage = 1 Shot

Vet 3 B4 = 960 damage
For mother Russia +50%
960+50%= 1440 damage = 1 shot

Vet 3 B4 = 960 damage
For mother Russia +50%
Mark target +35%
960+50%+35%= 1944 damage! =
1 shot with a lot of overkill!
(Last one unverified)

I think FHQ is 30%? if so
it deals 2916 damage if all buffs active.

if I had to tweak the B4 it's just poorer accuracy at long ranges, and the precision ability reduced range. I mean isn't that with every other artillery unit in the game?
