Secure Point is a joke to me. It's a Relic of a vet ability that was never inspired nor particularly useful.

I see what you did there

The fact that not all tanks have the option to choose selective fire drive me even more crazy.

But yeah, there's a lot of trash abilities that refuse to go away. It's a principle reason as to why the overall commander design is in such a lack luster situation.

I am referring just to the IS-2, I think it does make pretty good sense on T-70, T-34 I'm not so sure.

Only T70 should have it. It fits with its recon role.

T34 should have more battle oriented vet bonuses.

In my 200 hours of playing Coh2 (primarly soviets) the only unit I've ever used that on is the T-70.

i think its fine on medium tanks. it makes sense for them cause theyre faster than infantry and you can use secure mode to quickly go around the map and secure points.

on a heavy tank though. its completely pointless. the tank is too slow to be used as a fast capper. its armor is too weak if you wanted to try and use it to take a contested vp under fire.

Its kind of ajoke compared to the kind of abilities and upgrades german tanks can get like smoke, blitz. spotting scope.. you know stuff that you can actually use.

smoke canisters please for vet 1 please.

Can we get mortar rounds instead? This is russia :D

(Semi-serious point. Turns out that when the Russians got lease lend Valentine tanks from the brits, without any sort of instructions, their field tests of the vehicle found the anti infantry firepower generally lacking without a 2pdr HE round. However, the mortar on the turret was an adequate solution when used with domestic 50mm mortar rounds, so they said. Of course, it was supposed to be a smoke launcher, but it's all just tubes in the end, right?)

For T70 and T34 it does seem fine for me.

For the IS-2 I would have always liked to see a vet 1 ability which increased the fire rate for the vechile momentarily. Might be OP but I don't know.

if only t34 or t70 could get overdrive like m3 and m5, they might actually have a chance of escaping blitzing axis armor.

Right now they are pretty much slower than p4 when you account for vet ability and pathing

soviet vet abilities and teching are a clear indication that the soviet faction was largely an afterthought

Or they thought it was a good idea but it did not work out. Now they are just too lazy to care

it is much more common to get a way with blitz, IMO whermacht and Soviet got a lot of bad vet ability, medic kit, counterbarrage, secure,

Someone mentioned this before, the ability is a relic (hurdur, again) back from the days when it was a completely different game. i remember using it to great success when t34s were dirt cheap.
also doctrinal self repair + secure mode is pretty nice :snfPeter:

I don't get the hate for Trip Flares, they aren't that bad surely? 10 Munitions to kill 25% of a german infantry unit and provide LOS for the whole area? I usually just lay them down while I'm capturing a point.

As for Secure Mode, I use it a lot with T70 and T34, usually after I run off the enemy infantry and start securing while my own infantry catches up. Other times I'll send it to a far away point or one that is protected with MGs or something, decap, then run before they can get AT to it. This is good on maps like Semoisky Winter and Minsk Pocket for fuel and VPs that are close enough to be forgotten about sometimes.
