In 1v1 its not really an issue but in team games you are able to see which base you will most likely be facing and be braced for it.

As you can see OKW has a rectangular base and Wehr has a square base.

OKW

Wehr

Same for Americans and Soviets, and you can also see when Soviets/Ostheer builds more buildings.

As soviets, start building one tier building, immediately cancel and build another one in a different spot. You get the shadows for the cost of 1 or 2 seconds of engineer time.

i never even thought about this. I guess its related to how you can see a fence be destroyed through fog of war (and infer a tank or something is running over it).

It certainly needs to be fixed so you cant see buildings.

i presume this even works for seeing MG bunkers placed in the field.

I'm surprised this wasn't known earlier to the community. There is no such thing as a wasted static artillery shot.

I'm positive this kind of thing didn't used to happen. I clearly remember playing the guessing game with my howitzer or even the days of the super-cheap 221, where it was commonly used to suicide-scout the enemy base for a strike. Now, you know where all the buildings are right off the bat.
