M36 Jackson Tank Destroyer

The M36 Jackson feels like the original su85 on steroids. This tank has the best of everything in AT including:

speed 6.5
damage 240
penetration 200
range 60
reload 5.5

And it only costs 350mp and 125fu. I dont know why relic made it such a killing machine but against OST it's not fair. One M36 can engage a tiger before it can get close enough and it can accelerate/move away super fast while maintaining it's line of fire because of the rotational turret. Panzer4 fares worse, because of the insane damage 240 and again range. Only the panther has a decent chance to deal with it, but getting a panther for OST is not practical because of economy and teching.

Mind you some will argue that the M36 is short changed in other areas. I looked at it's full stats, and it has practically the same armor as the su85. It's only drawback is the low health (480). So for 160 less health it gets more speed, more damage, and a rotational turret, that's just too much.

I think relic should consider reducing the M36 damage to 160 inline with all other tanks. This way it's not such an abusive tank towards the OST.

This is the softest and most squishy tank in a game. I can have a panther beat this thing. Panzerschreck squads make it squeal for its life. An at gun snaps it in half. It has 130 armor! It has only 480 health.

It has 480 health. Many things kill it in 3 shots. Many of those things 100% penetrate.

So yes, (not being rude to you, i realized it kind of looks that way, but its not, its simply straight to the point)

same can be said of su85, it dies in 4 hits, but it doesn't have 240 damage, super fast speed, and a rotational turret. A tank shouldn't combine all those features for such a low cost.

Also would just like to mention that it has more accuracy than the SU85 (or any Ostheer tank, tank destroyer or otherwise) and a smaller movement accuracy penalty than all other faction vehicles (.75 vs .5 accuracy, though it has a X1.2 cooldown multiplier on the move). It's extremely good- there's nothing the Ostheer has on tracks that can touch them pound-for-pound, not even blitz P4s.

The 200 Penetration are only at point blank. At max range it only has 160, so its penetrates a Tiger with 53% chance. Also with its 480 Hp you have to use it on max range and here it needs someone to scout for it because of the lack of focused sight. And also look at the reload. The Su shoots more than one sec faster. If you nerf the DMG it needs a buff in reload.

While I do agree that Jackson is actually really agile with nice penetration, there is just no way to nerf this tank. Just no.

Why? Well it's the best tank (destroyer) that USF has to offer. No heavy tanks, no nothing.

How the hell would you expect USF to counter all the heavy tanks Axis have to offer if not have atleast one tank with good penetration? With Shermans? Oh give me a break.

The Jackson is currently fine. Absolutely no AI ability, and if any of your tanks can get close to it, it's basically over. In particular it's artificial intelligence is moronic, frequently charging headlong into enemy tanks when you give the attack order and getting itself killed. This is particularly problematic on urban maps. It definitely does good damage and has good penetration, but that's about the only thing it has going for it. Prior to the Easy 8 doctrine being in commander rotation and going on sale, the USF were basically hopeless late game because it was so micro-intensive to get any good use out of your swarm of fragile vehicles.

640/120 = 5.3 which means it takes 6 shreck hits to kill an SU-85.

Didn't they nerf the SU85 health when they buffed it's speed?

Edit: nvm, stats still say 640. I must have remembered incorrectly.

M36 is powerful but still useless when you need to chase retreating Tiger with 1/10hp cause probably you will enter Tiger's range (is you want to see it) and there will be some AT guns around so all you can do is wait for another Tiger approach after repairs.

Btw, if Jacckon turret has no roof (so 1 of the crew can get up with binoculars) why it does not have ability increasing sight?

I use panzer tactician as wehr,u'll see pz 4 do well with this,smoke eliminates long ranged adv.

I play mostly Germans but I gotta say the Jackson shouldn't be nerfed. US AT is just horrible apart from Jackson.

It's so light, it can't take more than 3 hits. Seems like a fair trade-off. Excellent power and pen but low health.
