Yes, but you don't think that you can be beat fastly if you rush and don't use efficiently your unit, you cant be beat at t2 in 1v1 right ?

Uh - you'll need to edit that for us, I think. I'm not trying to be an arsehole, I simply don't understand what you're saying.

Thanks for your answere turbosqel, but i play a lot vs Sov and i know that there gameplay were agressive... because before the patch there troops were more resistant. Now the gameplay have changed, you have to promote cover to keep your units alive... and find new strat to make move your enemie, and flanking them...

Maybe i'm wrong , just tell me please...

Oh I surely can be beat. But for me to loose so much to be spammed with ACs and baseraped without even halftruck is rather unlikely. Will try to do that to sov player now thou.

By way of context, I just watched the OP streaming. His Soviet efforts amounted to throwing satchels at random clusters of infantry, when that failed he surrendered.

I guess we all need to L2P...

I was planning to come here and write what FULL MADNESS was OPs soviet game. Gave up like after 10mins with literally 0 map control and went back playing Ostheer.

BTW, nice tactics there with Pios and PGrens and of course elite doctrine. :)

Actually I like the change to pioneers. It offers a new strategy. Keep in mind Germans suffer from more fragile Grenadiers, who get their MG42 later and even the lack of the flame HT early on. All this, combined with the new Penal battalions justifies stronger pioneers imo.

If someone still claiming

Advices

Some good advices, when I read them they read great.

When I play the game they don't.

There are things like mortars, Mg42, rifle nades, flanks etc in the game. That just works way to much in German favor, and mean Soviet player either loses map control or gets annihilated.

I mean, you need extreme amount of micro just to survive with Soviets atm and it just keeps getting progressively worse as the game unfolds. (due to loss of map control and subsequently resources)
You basically need to be behind the wall with road all around you and no flank possible to have a chance. Unless your opponent decides to bring Mg42 or mortar to flush you out of cover.

So sorry, but whatever.

Still felt like doing this thread where you give pieces of advice that you haven't even tested? With a bit insulting tone. I find it a bit unnecessary, that's all.

Finally Company of Heroes 2 is more like CoH1 in the first stage of the battle. You just can't charge German troops if they are in cover with rioting conscript blobs, forcing the Germans to retreat. You can't crawl up with shocks troops and throw a grenade on the shooting MG, now you really have to use your brain and some tactics, really flank and use cover to win as the Soviets. Split your troops and spread them out against charging close combat units, if they charge one squad, back that one up and let the others shoot.
Use more maxims and mortar, get an early AT gun, plant mines instead of throwing 20 molotovs.

I know many new players just blobbed their way to victory with the Russians before the patch, and they will have a hard time adapting to this new system. Especially if they only played the Soviet side, and I think even harder if they never played Americans in vCoH.

I think its sad that the Russians just give up when their riot blob tactic dont do it now, even if they still hold half the map into mid game.

Its nothing like VCOH, except that cover is important now.

If you ever played VCOH you would know that it was very hard for Germans to survive early game. And gradually tech-up and vet up, etc to become stronger.

Now Germans are not disadvantaged in early game and they become stronger and stronger through mid and late game.

Soviets are just impotent. At least in 2v2, haven't tried 1v1 yet

Here's a translation of the OP:

Stay in green cover (if it's available) to avoid your combat units getting raped by German basic builder unit. Incidentally, if you had actually tried it you'd find out very quickly that it doesn't work: keeping a combat engineer in green cover vs. onrushing pioneer squad results in win for pio most of the time. So better advice is "when you see pioneers, RETREAT". This will be a recurring topic throughout this discussion.

Use 2 units for every 1 German unit. I am not a great strategist but is it possible this might result in loss of map control? :) Also, if you always needed 2 cons to fight 1 Gren, how was pre-patch game "Soviet easy mode"?

Use 2 units for every 1 German unit. Stay in cover and far away from a unit that has sprint. How did "stay in cover and stay away" work for Germans before patch against PPSh cons by the way?

If you see 1 Gren vs. your 1 Con, the best strategy is... RETREAT!

PGs had their armor reduced. All Soviet units had their armour buffed to help you defeat PGs... err, wait? Also, focus fire... unless you are talking about a special new "focus fire" ability, you probably mean having to "use 2 units for every 1 German unit"... or RETREAT!

Your first job as the Soviet player who is losing map control due to the superiority of German infantry is to sneak your combat engineers behind the rapidly advancing German front line and plant mines to help you deal with the scout cars.

Second job is "stay in cover" because a conscript squad in cover will win a shootout with an armored car.

Third job is blob and hope the German player takes pity on you and doesn't support his car(s) with infantry.

or, you guessed it, RETREAT!

The flamer is dead! Long live the MG halftrack with no real counters (previous counter was T70 which now costs 195 fuel to build). Just bring up your howitzer-range scout car and MG HT to just behind your front line and reinforce your god-like infantry while Soviet player cries himself to sleep.

Summary of advice for Soviet player:

Use 2 units for every 1 German unit

AND/OR

RETREAT FOR MOTHER RUSSIA!

I love you.

Shit. I was the one getting buttraped in that Image :( Was not nice.

The question isn't "Is the game balanced?" anymore. The question is "What purity of Crystal Meth were Relic and the Balance team smoking when they approved this patch?".

Agreed with the OP. Too many soviet players are just used to swarming a map with infantry, neglecting cover, and winning.

This patch is a MASSIVE step in the right direction for COH2 but of course there will be more adjustments in the future such as pios im sure. For once a patch that raises the skill level a bit instead of lowering it, and that goes for both factions. Of course scrub players who nub'd their way to the top of the ladder will hate it. I hope to see more patches like this in the future.
