Stukas over Stalingrad
Someone in the shoutbox mentioned it was the aniversary of the end of the Battle of Stalingrad so I thought I would include my favourite quote about the decisive battle:
"The next day we fly a sortie over Stalingrad, where approximately two thirds of the city is in German hands. It is true the Soviets hold only one third, but this third is being defended with an almost religious fanaticism. Stalingrad is Stalin’s city and Stalin is the god of these young Kirgises , Usbeks, Tartars, Turkmenians and other Mongols. They are hanging on like grim death to every scrap of rubble, they lurk behind every remnant of a wall. For their Stalin they are a guard of fire-breathing war-beasts, and when the beasts falter, well-aimed revolver shots from their political commissars nail them, in one way or the other, to the ground they are defending. These Asiatic pupils of integral communism, and the political commissars standing at their backs, are destined to force Germany, and the whole world with her, to abandon the comfortable belief that communism is a political creed like so many others . Instead they are to prove to us first, and finally to all nations, that they are the disciples of a new gospel. And so Stalingrad is to become the Bethlehem of our century. But a Bethlehem of war and hatred, annihilation and destruction."

Jebus fuck if that was interesting. Do you have a reference to where you got it? It basically sums up German racial policy in a nice way. Thanks!

It's from Hans-Ulrich Rudel's War Memoirs called 'Stuka Pilot' - my favourite book. The man may have had some views that were very much 'of their time' but his experience in WW2 and his considerable achievements make for a fascinating insight into war on the eastern front.

is there any other photos of this captured stug III???
I just started to build plastic scale models at 1:35 scale....I just finished a m4 sherman and a m8 scott. Now working on a pershing, and I would love to create this captured stug in 1:35 scale....
I have been searching for more photos of this unit, but no luck for me....
I promise I´ll upload photos of my USF tanks in scale 1:35 as soon as I have some spare time to take some photos...
Just a noob with scale models, same in COH2 so please, don´t expect high quality, those are my first scale models in my whole life
Thanks in advance, and congrats for such an epic thread mate.

Random offtopic but I saw some documentary (about d-day n shit) and Bullets from the MG42 became quite fast non lethal underWater( something about 20-60cm?).
Tlr better be in water when a MG42 shoots at you instead of beeing in an open field ;p
