What maps do you veto as Ostheer?

So, what maps do you veto when playing as Ostheer? Is there any map you always, always veto?

1v1:
  • Don River (I'm prejudiced against bridges)
  • Minsk Pocket
  • Kholodny Ferma

2v2:
  • Pripyat (always)
  • Road to Kharkov
  • Oka River Winter

I have very little 2v2 experience, so I'd love to hear what others have to say on their 2v2 vetoes.

For 2v2 I always veto Don River plus all the 6 player maps. Rzhev is decent sometimes, but always feels too big for a 2vs2 and Oka River is just bleh.

For 1v1 I veto Don River (probably the worst map in the game) plus Kharkov (hate that map for 1v1) and Minsk Pocket.

2v2 > -Don river (totally russian map)
-Oka River (same crap)
-Pripyat WINTER
-Rails and Metals (120mm mortar is *The king* here)

3v3 > -Hill (mud is so frustrating, Su85 is the boss here)
-City 17 summer

4v4 > -Hill

Why veto karkov as germans in 2v2?
I alwas veto it as soviets because mg (bunkers) and turreted tanks rule the map. Pak43 is also very deadly here.

I veto Hill 331 in 3on3/4on4 because my team mates cannot stand it. I don't really like the map either, but I would probably not have vetoed it still if it was just up to me.

1v1: minsk (shit map), langres winter (too much deep snow all over the map and it's annoying for both armies), Don river (reason is obvious)

I´ll say i just veto cause of the map rather than faction preference.

ALWAYS:
-Don River

1v1:
-Depending on the mood i may veto winter Langres - Kholodny
-Or Minsk Pocket - Kharkov

2v2:
90% of the time
-Pyripiat (summer n winter)
-Rhzev
Sometimes
-Kharkov (as Soviets)

3v3:
-Rhzev. Too small
-City. Always some guy is set apart from the rest of the team.

I play mostly 2vs2:

I veto all the Winter maps, where a Blizzard can occur.

- Oka River
- Don River
- Rhzev Winter
- Moscow Winter

There is one veto missing to lock every winter map in 2vs2 (Semoiski Winter doesn´t have Blizzards). So I don´t veto "Pripjat Winter", because I know it will be vetoed by other players 90% of the time. There you go: Every Blizzard map out of the game. ;)

Semoiskey both Winter and Summer. It heavily favours soviet players.

Edit: I should probably expand on that.

The narrow choke-points makes it perfect for soviet mines, the buildings and landscape limit line of sight for MGS and Snipers, the lack of open fields make it very difficult for armour to flank and the closed in nature of the map heavily favours artillery which the soviets have significant advantages in.

I think a lot of people have Don River vetoed, so by extension I don't play it very often. Could someone explain why it's a bad map?

because the southern factions fuel is very hard to harass while the the other fuel point is constantly changing hands.

more

- blizzards

- bridges

- favors campy play, you can control most of the central island with 2 mgs and a mortar

- if you lose control of the center then its tanks and gg before 10 minutes

- if that isn't the case then soviets will arty you back to the 18th century

Willy Pete: @Rosbone Ahh I missed that memo. I still think its a bad decision though. Adds frustration for players and isnt gonna make them that much money
27 Mar 2025, 15:46 PM
Rosbone: It is also good they left it free until after the free to play weekend. Points for that.
27 Mar 2025, 09:34 AM
Rosbone: But I agree, the cost to get a full decent Coh game pushing $115 US is not the best idea. Especially when it needs so much more work for casuals.
27 Mar 2025, 09:32 AM
Rosbone: To be fair, it was a thank you to early fans right? They said it was not free for long and it would become a pay DLC at some point.

20 Mar 2025, 13:11 PM
Nickbn: @Rosbone it's incredibly rude to speak on someone elses behalf, especially when a question is directly adressed to them. I understand your passion for the subject at hand but I want to hear from him.
20 Mar 2025, 10:16 AM
Rosbone: @Nickbn No, I am just saying people should not be using any Relic owned forum since they have proven they ban anyone who says true things about Coh3.
