As a PC gaming publisher, this mobile gaming investment is the nail in the coffin.
RIP PC gaming from Relic, Amplitude Studios and Creative Assembly.

Moving forward, Sega gaming studios should be referred to as non-regulated online gambling casinos and/or online cash cows such as CoH3 (riddled with false advertisements) and Total Warhammer (dying Cash Cow).

Sega to acquire Rovio in €706 million deal:
The Angry Birds maker to boost Sega's mobile ambitions

Just a few months before this Sega investment you have offers from a major Israeli Gambling Giant To Buy Rovio/Angry Birds.

Israeli Gambling Giant Offers To Buy Rovio, JAN 20, 2023:
https://gamerant.com/israel-casino-game-publisher-playtika-buy-rovio-angry-birds/
Israeli gambling giant Playtika made a lucrative all-cash acquisition offer for Rovio Entertainment, the Tel Aviv-based company has announced. The proposal was put forward following a fairly uneventful year for the Finnish developer during which it launched only two games, Angry Birds Journey and a rerelease of the original Angry Birds.

Playtika is one of the world's largest casual and casino games publishers whose latest full-year financials reveal it hit 35 million monthly players in 2021, which places it in Rovio's ballpark, user-wise. However, the nature of the gambling niche means Playtika is significantly better at monetizing its player base than the Angry Birds maker is. While the Finnish company posted $259 million in operating revenue in Q3 2022, its suitor's turnover amounted to $647 million across that same period. The fact that Rovio's revenue streams also include non-gaming endeavors like The Angry Birds Movie widens that gap in game monetization efficiency.

Is this entertaining? I cannot tell whether it is a shitposting or an actual opinion.

Sega is way bigger than Coh3/Warhammer. This is probably why we are eating shit Relic produces - they don't matter for Sega.

Freaking Sonic game probably sold 3 millions before any major discounts. Personas, Football Simulator, Yakuzas... It is big.

Everybody wants to be part of mobile. Activision, EA, Microsoft, Sony, Nintendo - all making investments in there independently of their other studios/strategies.
Blue Protocol can be the ultimate weeb MMO drawing the audience greater than New World, and if it is any good, sustaining it.

It is not black and white. Whatever divisions/studios at Sega are operating the casinos, slot machines, mobile games, PC games, multiplatform games, JPRGs - they have different strategies and goals.

This is so much more true than the (emotional) post that SturmtigerCobra made.

I understand the sentiment from SturmtigerCobra and Rosbone. Judging by their post history and shoutbox entries everyone gets it - both of you are (to say the least) dissapointed and might even be downright 'hurt' by what's happening at Relic and ultimately translated into CoH3 and CoH2. But the reality of the situation much more fits what Fantomasas says. comapnies believe there is more money to be gathered from mobile gaming.

I'm not a psychologist but I would strongly advise to put your efforts of voicing your negativity to Relic and or its products into something where your energy can be turned into something more fruitful. For example look at the way HelpingHans and AE are voicing their concerns, but also providing solutions. Makes it much more helpful and understandable for all.

The only game I play is Coh2. I don't care about anything else Relic/Sega do. When I make posts about COH3 failing it is from a place of sadness.

During my time playing Coh2 it became apparent Relic management were morons. Every interaction with Relic = incompetence. Knowing that anyone on this site could do 10x better job than the management at Relic is disturbing and annoying.

All of my hate for Relic is at the management level. Any individuals I have any knowledge of at Relic's lower levels has done a great job in general. A few missteps by a couple of course, no one is perfect.

No one is more happy than I am when community members get jobs with Relic. I know they have the passion and desire to make COH great.

In my mind the COH series is the perfect RTS game. The only reason there are not 10x more players is Relic management. COH3 should have been an amazing release that brought the community to new levels. You only get one shot at it. And in typical Relic fashion, they tripped over their dicks, fell face first into a puddle of gas, and then rolled into a fire. They could not have done a worse job.

Further proof of this today. The balance stream today was run by community members. It was insightful and informative. They acknowledged things that were overlooked in the balance and laid out how they were going to rectify it over time. No stupid public relations nothing speech you would get from the morons at the top. 10/10.

I really feel Relic has the talent to make great games, they just lack the leadership. What should we as consumers/players do to enact a change in leadership at Relic?

1) Dont give Relic money.
2) Bitch and moan as often as possible.

What will change if we don't?

I respect you. Seeing as most of the community maps from CoH2 that made it into automatch rotation were from you, I can only figure you have done more than your part to keep the that game alive. Seeing as Relic did actually put community made maps into rotation makes me think, even though you like to call them incompetent, they did go further than they'd have to to include the maps into a game that they logically weren't getting any new big sales from. From a management perspective you could deduct a couple of theories from that as well.

I hate to piss on your bonfire as I see you really are passionate, but if you really want Relics leadership to change and you expect it to change with your current strategy there will be none. Zero. No one is going to leave / switch companies because they see (some) people bitching and moaning. The 'not giving relic money' logic is also flawed. If the product is not bringing in any money anymore, than why bother support for it instead of moving to the next one that does project sales?

Again, I understand your position, I just think there is a better way to voice yourself into getting the results you'd want.

Mobile is largest, easiest and free money, mobile casuals have no self control over micro transactions, nor do they have self awareness about them.

Everyone wants in on mobile.
Why do you think Activision Blizzard announced they want all their franchises to be mobile?

Same with EA.

Mobile "gaming" is infinite source of stupid, gullible, unaware people and their open wallets.

Loot boxes, gachas, pay-to-skip, pay2win mechanics are not only wide-spread there, they are accepted without any critique.

It would be retarded for any company not to try to tap into that.

I usually agree with a lot of Katitofs thoughts. But it pains me to say I agree 100% with all of this.

I spent a ton of time reworking maps for balance patches. Since I have a lot of freetime, I volunteered to make the changes people wanted to see done. That is more important than the maps I got into the game.

That is when I started to see cracks in the facade. Relic would announce some cool thing like reworking maps, balance patch, or even a mapping contest. Then trip over their dicks and execute it pretty badly. That is when people in the know start joking "Well, it is relic we are talking about".

Piss away, that is why we are here good sir. As I stated, as a consumer you can only do two things: Dont buy and bitch.

Here is a possible scenario for you. I work at Relic as a manager/producer. I am pretty good at designing games. But I have some flaws that make me not so effective. I am not fully aware of said flaws. People around me like me cause I am nice so they dont bitch at me. Along comes this douchebag named Rosbone questioning my abilities. He points out some of the mistakes I am making. Maybe I learn a few things about myself and start to grow as a person and become better at my job.

Most people are not dumb by choice. Sometimes they need to have a door opened for them to become aware. Most of us are so busy we dont stop to ponder the deeper things. And we find ourselves saying "Hmmm, I never thought about that".

I always say, I am not too bright. I am also very lenient with people. If I am legitimately questioning something, it has to be pretty bad. If I worked at Relic and someone had an idea or thought about something I was not aware of, I would embrace it. I would be grateful they said something. That is why the many are better than the few.

Again, I understand your position, I just think there is a better way to voice yourself into getting the results you'd want.

I always come across as negative in RL. People always look at me like I am insane. Because I explain things as examples in the extreme.

F**ING DOCTORS
Doctors in the U.S. for example are useless. You go to them and they say "Lets run some tests". You know for a fact they will do nothing but waste your time and money and be undignified assaults on humanity. So I say "Ok, but if it comes back normal I get to take a baseball bat to your ankles? Now do you think we should run the tests?" And like ALL RETARDS, they cant understand the thought logic and only grasp the wrong parts of the statement.

They hear "I am going to break your ankles cause I am a sociopath".

They should hear "I dont enjoy taking a day off work to come here so you can make me take another day off work to strip down to my underwear and get treated like a child by some retard all day as they poke and probe in some not very nice places. Just to take a 3rd day off to come here and have you tell me everything looks normal. Then repeat this cycle until all of my vacation days are gone. And the whole time I feel like complete dog squeeze. Now with the threat of you, the doctor, being inconvenienced with some quick ankle work do you still think we should do these retarded tests or should we do some real-world troubleshooting and maybe solve the problem?."

This world is full of people/retards too busy to stop and question anything. Dont be one of them. No one is in charge. No one knows what they are doing. No one is looking out for you.

We are all trained monkeys. We have not evolved past that yet. 99% of the day we follow a routine and respond to stimuli. Same as a single celled organism. Life becomes better for all during those 1% times when we ponder and use logic to improve things around us. From stupid things like "I should be nicer to my spouse" to the fantastical "Why dont we make the ketchup bottle work so it is already upside down".
