Artillery observation Panzer for Joint operations

While I like the addition of the Panzer command tank to Joint operations, I think an artillery observation panzer would fit the commander better thematically than the Command Panzer.

Historically,, around 90 Panzer IV H were converted to Panzerbeobachtungswagen from July 1944 to March 1945
These tanks had their coaxial machine gun removed to make room for additional radios, but retained the long 75mm gun, and were assigned to Panzer divisions to guide their self propelled artillery on to target.

You can read further about the vehicle here:
http://www.historyofwar.org/articles/weapons_panzerbeobachtungswagen_IV.html

Based on this, the Artillery Observation Panzer would be a long barrelled Panzer IV with a commander in the hatch. It could be available at 6 or 7cp

Some of its abilities could be:
Light artillery barrage
150mm Hummel Heavy artillery barrage (requires vet1)
Smoke artillery barrage
Artillery flares

What do you think? Does this idea fit thematically with Joint operations? Is it interesting enough to include?

I would also agree, that Joint Operations need to be remade, maybe even combining pak43 and LeFH into one ability, considering they both are 8 CP.

You usually dont need both leFH and Pak43 at the same time, considering how much pop-cap it will eat up + on top of that, with limiting leFH to 2 commanders, only SturmDoctrine can be objectively usefull and it will be mainpick always + on top of that it having divebomb + recon makes it no-brainer. You have your own arty + can self counter enemy arty.

Unlike both Sov commanders which are both usefull.

So yeah, right now this commander feels really lackluster and situational, not worth having in a loadout not for LeFH nor for anything else it provides. Because there are better options for every single ability.

Honestly, combining the two with their current power would be too powerful for a doctrinal ability. If they were be combined they would be needing to be adjusted.

The Pak 43 damage could be reduced to 240 from 320 and no longer able to shoot through buildings and object, but be cheaper at 300 manpower + fuel and arrives at 6 cp.
The Lefh 18 could simply have its range reduced to 180 - 200 and counter barrage removed, but in return could have it's cost reduced to 320-360 manpower + fuel, arrive at 6 cp, and gain a smoke barrage.

Well with this aproach I would rather remove PaK43 alltogeather fron Joint Operation if favor of having just LeFH in it.

At the end of the day, if one really want to play defensively around PaK43 you better off having Defensive commander or if you just want to have an option to have it, then Festung Armor is really sweet with new P4J.

Both of the commanders are x100 times better then Joint operation for Pak43. And SturmDoc is like ultimate arty doc, with strong ability for inf (camo), howi and self-spotting hardcounter for enemy howis.

Then you'd have no Commander with the combination of Pak 43 and LeFH.

Edit:

In Ostheer anyway. OKW has their Fortifications Doctrine.

Well, soviets dont have commander with ML20+T34\85. I think we can live without Pak43+LeFH for Ost, wont be missed.

Speaking of OKW fortification, while it has Pak43 and LeFH it also unlocks hell of a lot defensive stuctures, have inf buff and inderect fire ability.

So unlike Joint OKW Fort can be always usefull.

Yes, maybe add brace and make it undecrew able as well. The excuse for this to not have those was it was soooooooooooooo............ OP apparently. So now in the changes you suggested that it's basically a 17 pdr you wouldn't mind adding brace and needing to be destroyed.
