StephennJF (Storm) vs StC-MDong (Shock Army)

1337 5N1p3R KDR=100/0 1NF1n1T3 R1cH35. umad? :D

To all the Ostheer sniper haters, I have been getting so many 60+ kill snipers lately. Trust me, they are better than the Soviet snipers when your opponent goes Shocks or Guards when you have good infantry/mg42 usage to cover them ;)

gg, wp -> honored

Snipers (on both sides) seem really underutilized atm considering how strong they are.

After watching those 3 games you posted, kudos for trying out units that aren't very popular in the current meta - german snipers, command tanks, stugs, s-minefields, panzerwerfers.

Of those, snipers and panzerwerfers really did work very well for you. The rest - not so much. Especially command tanks were pretty much wasted resources, as they died without making any impact at all. Stugs did ok, but I still believe it's worth paying 40MP/20F extra to get a PIV instead.

As for german snipers, they're potentially awesome. The main reason why they're not used is the fact that soviet snipers counter them so hard. In each of those 3 games your opponent went T2. In one case he did it even after he already knew you got a sniper which is quite perplexing since soviet T2 is all about setup teams, so he played right up your alley.

Whenever I tried to make some use of an early german sniper I got a soviet sniper team in my face. Sometimes inside a scout car to boot. Assuming remotely similar level of skill between the players, soviets will always win in sniper wars. Even if you're the first to spot enemy snipers and take a shot, the surviving soviet sniper counternipes you immediately.

You did prove that a german sniper is a decent reaction to soviet T2 though, so thanks for that. Gonna try it out.

Just lucky the soviet player kind of sucked... Why did he even keep masing su85's at all when you werent making any real armor... and even after he did mass 3 su85's for no reason, he didnt even attempt to use them to help with infantry even though u had no AT other than 1 squad of Pgrens. just kept moving them around near his base and constantly turning thier backs toward the frontline for some reason, never used them at all really. .. He should of made another katyusha and something other than tank destroyers when you didnt even have tanks... he didnt even use the su85s to try to hunt down that lone rocket trucket that was raping him

also, early game, he sees you have a sniper so whats he do to counter it? Make shocktroops. LOL! thats like seeing the counter on the field and making the unit it counters anyway... also other mistakes...

ugh that replay sucked, the decisions of the soviet ruined it.

never saw him use Urrah! at all to attempt to kill/force off that sniper either, like he forgot Urrah was even an ability or something..... SIGH

IMO not cast worthy, not a very well played game. but hell these losers will cast any B.S. that a COH Celeb posts, there are many other good and even some better players with awesome replays that are posted here as well, but its only the same few people thats replays get any attention from coh2.org or from casters. ...ZZzzzzZZ...

If there are so many awesome players and great replays why don't you point out a few that hasn't already been casted?
I asked Stephenn if he had any reps for me to cast as most other replays gets snatched up by the other casters who pump out way more a week then TFN does, basically casting most of them before we get a chance to.
Also thanks for the personal insult of calling us "losers" that "cast any B.S" for no apparent reason, we do this as a hobby, we don't get paid, and the little money we do earn we pump right back into the community with a tournament, I reserve the right to cast whatever I feel like (this only goes for TFN, I don't represent the other casters).
If you feel there are so many replays uncasted with great players why not pick up the casting stick yourself and resolve that situation?

I actually havn't posted any replays in a long time, but was asked recently by Fatal to post some games due to the lack of replays or dry diversity in replay content. I uploaded 3 different enjoyable games which I had one night, including both wins and losses. All the replays included varying styles of play, with under appreciated doctrines and heck who sees such a fragile unit get 100 kills in CoH?

The last time TFN casted one of my games, the video prior to this had a top comment of 'Utterly bored of Soviets always picking Guard Motor Coordination Tactics Commannder...'. TFN in the next episode casted a enjoyable game between Barton and I, where we both displayed strategies very different from the standard based play.

Liquid Rock, like those other youtube viewers seemed to appreciate this. The fact that I and I am undoubtly certain TFN feels the same knowing at least someone got enjoyment/learned out it and this gives us motivation to produce more content like this. I never portray myself or even think I am a 'pro' at this game. Recently a stream viewer called Anton came into my stream, decided to randomly give my stream feedback and stated that he enjoys watching not because I am the best skilled streamer but I constantly discuss my thoughts, often vary up my strategies and generally friendly. People like this is whom these replays were primarily intended for.

I admit in terms of entertainment value this one is actually less incomparison to the other games, including my own and others, hence I am a little bit suprised it got GOTW (still awesome though cause its my first one ever! :D ). None the less it was enjoyable and interesting for both StC-MDONG and I, and I felt a sense of accomplishment in getting a triple figure 100 kill unit.

I hope this clarifies my own intentions and bares some insight into how TFN and I both think.

Yeah, you have to be careful when trying to counter snipe the Soviet snipers I know what you mean.

My tip here is to be a bit more passive with your Ostheer sniper when they are have T1 present, but still try get your sniper to Vet1 by getting the occasional kill. The reason for this is because vet1 Ostheer sniper ability will always kill both Soviet snipers when you counter snipe them. This is the best way to counter snipe.

However, if you have grens near-by (even better when HT close aswell) let your grens take the hit and then your Ostheer sniper fire immediately after whether it be to counter snipe or kill some infantry. Try get a mortar aswell just to flush there sniper out and kill the M3/Sniper combo. You will eventually hit them if your barrage well. 3x grens, 1 mortar, 1 sniper and maybe 1 mg42 is my army composition to counter this, when I have a sniper of my own.

Hey may not have been my best game, but when you see StephennJF appear on your loading screen, I want to feel as safe as possible. No need to get rude Rubbers, we can all get rude and there is no need. I felt it was a gg and if you don't then tbh you can suck it :)

I did know that. Sadly, never quite managed to target the ability and still have the time to actually take the shot. Most soviet players aren't careless enough to let their snipers get exposed for that long. Especially when they know there's a german sniper around.

That is alright just practice it best you can. Knowing the hotkeys is really useful here. I use GridKeys and just quickly hit V and attack click to get the Vet1 sniper ability active. Maybe try that (or learn the standard hotkey no idea what it is though) and hopefully it gives you a better chance for the time they are exposed.

Remember Soviet snipers are camo exposed that little bit longer than an Ostheer after shots/out of cover. That T1 mortar or MHT is great at flushing them out of cover for sometimes forcing that quick uncamo as they move to safety (potential counter snipe), forcing them back (map control win) or get that lucky hit (win/win scenario :D ). Force your opponent in an awkward situation because as you said, decent Soviet players are that bit more cautious when they know that Sniper could be around.

It's "F" on standard hotkeys. I guess it's doable, just that it's way easier to countersnipe by simply hitting un-hold fire hotkey than by hitting the ability hotkey and then manually clicking the target. Personally, I'll probably take my chances with standard BOs and only get a sniper once I've seen T2. It's much safer that way and at that point you're more likely to have some spare resources for a sniper without compromising your mainline infantry presence anyway. Certainly beats pgrens when the opponent is spamming maxims and/or shock troops. I might change my mind though if I see a good player manage to reliably handle sniper wars as germans :)

I casted the other game Stephenn posted and emailed to us, most likely not doing this one but the other one was properly entertaining!

You can run old patch replays by backing up your game files before patching your game, then reverting them and running Steam in offlinemode to block the update prompt.
