I sensed you were getting impatient when you made your SU85 rush?

To be fair, it's a good replay, but it highlights the disparities between the factions. Maybe that's why it's good.
There are entire buildings that are more or less useless for the Germans (T4) along with entire units (the sniper/stug). The panther would have ended the game with 0 kills were it not for Syms overly aggressive push which resulted probably out of boredom. The Katyushka really turned the game, along with the SU85s (durrrrr). The snipers I bet frustrated hans more than anything. What is he supposed to do? Use harsh language and scare them off the field? Those three units I just previously mentioned currently have no match on the battlefield. They allow the Soviets to make great sweeping comebacks like this where they can essentially turtle themselves to victory. This is compounded on snow maps where range and blizzards come into effect (which is why I say blizzards effect the two factions differently and hence are not balanced - you have to remember, all of Hans essential units and infantry were affected by blizzards. Syms, not so much). I don't know how many blizzards were in this game, but it's probably at least 10. That's quite absurd.
Lastly, there is no finishing units for the Germans because T4 isn't viable and their call in armor is either too expensive for it's return or just outright sucks. Nothing of Hans doctrine offered anything in return. NOTHING. He used sector arty twice and that did nothing but hold a point for whatever seconds at 200 munitions. Sym? The exact opposite. Call in tanks, marked target, 120mm mortar, guards - all were essential to his play. The nonlinear gametrack for Germans ends the moment a clown car hits the field with snipers or flamers and guards as the follow up. That's it.
Were it not for the drama at the end, I would have thought I was watching a typical high level match.
sry about the dbl post - I misclicked "reply" instead of "edit"

Soviets really do benefit disproportionately from the blizzards, but even if they didn't I'd like to see the blizzard rate reduced by about a third cause they're annoying as shit. Trying to dig out an entrenched soviet especially on pripyat winter when the blizzards start kicking in constantly is an epic feat.
I also agree that with the german commanders, unlike coh1, theres none I really care about. I pretty much sit on my CPs most the game until I need a specific ability or MAYBE a call-in heavy and then I buy that doctrine while shrugging and saying "meh". Theres certainly no doctrine that I have found as an experienced german player that I would want to build my whole game around, mainly because call-in units dont exist before tigers.

I was going to say, this game was all Ostheer's to lose. Soviet wasn't "turtling" - he was literally pushed off the map into his base and Hans threw away numerous P4s. The easy win would've been to sit back, build the howitzer, and let VPs tick down while barraging Soviet base.
Right, now replace Hans with a Soviet player and tell me...could an Ostheer come back from that? No.
