I would imagine that if you judge strategies based on whether or not it's possible to beat them, you won't find very many that would satisfy you. Virtually all of them are beatable.

That said, attempting to overcome assgrens by simply building up a massive blob of conscripts feels risky. A more skillful player that would do better at dodging molotovs and keep his units concentrated, could bleed the soviet player a lot. Granted, the more intense and direct the battles, the easier it is for soviets to get 2CPs and subsequently equip their conscripts with PPshs,which levels the playing field considerably, but I still don't like it very much. Going early maxims feels like a more elegant solution to me, but it is a matter of opinion I suppose.
