Thank you Inverse! It's only appropriate that the guide that launches our new GUIDES section be a guide to streaming. Big thanks to OnkelSam both for his art in this specific guide and for his design work on the GUIDES section, and to JAnx for coding the new section.

Also thanks to Sam for writing the OBS section, and to 12azor and the other writers for editing and making it all purty.

Thanks for the guide guys. I am currently trying out the Open Broadcast software however I am having a hard time dropping all my frames. I originally used a special program called TCPRelay in order to stream using Xsplit. However since I am not sure of how to connect the TCPRelay program to Open Broadcast I am unable to stream with this other broadcasting software.

Anyway for those who want to improve their stream bandwidth I highly recommend downloading the TCPRelay program as it bypasses XSplit arbitrary upload bandwidth cap resulting in a much better quality stream overall.

Full instructions and information on this program can be found at this link.

Very nice guide: Tho I've to note that 32bit OBS also captures 64bit system's desktop and if you in some case want to use GameCapture source to get your COH live (for example in case of performance issue) you'll have to use 32bit OBS as RelicCOH.exe is 32bit application and only 64bit dll can be injected in 64bit apps

You can use OBS with full screen CoH and game capture - no frame drops and less resourse demands (at least for me) ;)

OBS has been a revelation for me. I was getting about 20fps in game while streaming 1080p with xsplit/dxtory and now I'm getting 60 with OBS at the same res and bitrate. I'd encourage everyone to give it a try.

I'm having some problems with the autohotkey script. It doesn't seem to have an effect on CoH at all. The strange thing of it is that it does work on Steam and Google Chrome.

Yeah I noticed that aswell. The program just wouldn't start streaming CoH if I'd use the 64-bit version of OBS :P

I recommend having a scenes for "BRB", "Technical Issues", "Private conversations" and "Preparing to broadcast" so that you can quickly swap over if you have to. Important to let your audience know what's going on.

Remember to tweak your audio settings. Setting your audio quality to max doesn't cost much as far as I know, but makes a difference on the other end.

Mute/unmute buttons for mic and audio are also a good idea.

Really? Because at the moment I am dropping nearly all my frames when I try to stream at 1080p. I have set the bit rate to 2000 and the buffer to 4000. My screen res is 1360x768.

Your screen resolution is 768p and you're trying to stream at 1080p?

I streamed with OBS for the first time tonight and it is AMAZING if your system specs are borderline inadequate. Before I had 10fps @ 480p with a huge bog on the gameplay using xfire/xsplit. Now I can stream 15-20fps @ 720p with very small impact in-game (on a notebook ffs). Try it out for sure.

Mate, it doesnt make any sense to stream something at a higher resolution than the source. You don't magically gain information. ;)
