Commandos: a squad where each man has the cloaking capabiltiy of the Ostheer sniper, combined with ultra close range DPS.
For whatever reason, having an ambush "bonus" when attacking from cloak, increasing RoF, accuracy, DPS, god knows what. I had one sneak up on a puma from the front and the enemy got so scared as its health was dropping ridiculously from SMG's, and he smoked away from an AI infantry squad...
#Balance
Also, you can camp behind any cover and wipe any squad/squads (plural) to win as well. Had a 3v3 where ally told us to stop using them because enemy was crying so bad from the chaos. |
The awesome veterancy has arrived...
Elite units drop smoke when they retreat when they are vet 3, making them much harder to wipe on retreat.
Infantry Sections at vet 3 bring out 2 scoped enfields with profound firing sounds (but they also count as filling weapon slots, though they are undroppable - sometimes my IS's with brens will drop their brens while losing only 1-3 men)
And the airlanding officer has a standard recon run as a vet ability where you can select which direction the plane flies, which is much greater than Major's recon run which calls in planes from anywhere that oftentimes dont scout what you want.
And of course, Commandos OP MVGame |
British smoke is droppable light cover, not vision block?
Yes, i learned that the hard way when trying to use em like shocks XD |
As for the 17 Pounder Flare, I'm sure the British will need to watch their Munitions savings on winter maps. I'd going to take a guess that Flares will cost 40 Munitions. Decent countermeasure though, even if flares staying in the air during a blizzard seems far fetched to me. XD
Well... I would think the abilities will cost munitions now. In Alpha, the flare ability for 17 pounder and magic suppression barrage of 40mm Bofors could only be used when an infantry squad garrisoned them, but the abilities were free.
Also, its a shame the video did not show off Bofors suppression ability. The Bofors shoots 3 barrages of shells in the air, and it can suppress infantry in any location literally around 70 range away from it. The first time i saw it, i was extremely confused because the emplacement was miles from where it was shooting. |
I've got to say, I'm really excited to use the double mortar pit! Creeping Smoke Barrage will be super handy to use with the double mortar making the smokescreen come down faster. I'm hoping the "Light HE" rounds fire with a range (Not Damage) matching the 120mm to make up for lack of movement.
Though I do wonder just how much of an effect garrisoning them would have?
For anyone fearing Emplacements in CoH2, you have very useful tools in this game you didn't have in CoH1. Does anyone remember that Smoke Bomb Run the Ostheer have? No need for Mortars this time to come into range and the Emplacements are blind. The British Achilles Heel.
There's also the Blizzard Maps. Think of how vulnerable they become then!
Which is why there are more expensive (and mobile) subsitutes for them. Firefly functions as the mobile 17 pounder emplacement, and the centaur AA as the 40mm bofors replacement. Except the mortar emplacement has no conventional alternative...
17 pounder emplacement has flares for blizzards MVGame, and garrisoning is pretty important, so i dont know why they didnt include the fact that in order to use an ability, it must be garrisoned... I thought that was neat. |
"Flamethrowers, Mortars, and Artillery weapon types will do bonus damage to British Emplacements. These weapon types were supposed to perform much better versus the British Emplacements than its current form. Players are encouraged to "Brace Structure" if they feel threatened by these abilities.
Deals bonus damage against emplacements"
Stuka dive bomb, double Ost mortar, OKW lieg, stuka zu fuss, lefh artillery, and practically all offmaps - especially stuka at strafe - obliterate these emplacements. That is, if brace is the same, health is the same, and bonus damage is the same as it was in the Alpha.
I dont know if Sturmtiger works, since Fireflies arent too bad excluding the too long reload Relic put on them usually negate a ton of armor. So no one bothered building sturmtigers.
Excuse me if drawing from NDA which might not be the same upon release clarifies some things. |
All hardcountered by leig/ost mortar Kappa.
And obvious anything bigger and anything that does flame damage...
Emplacements near died out in the Alpha once they nerfed their invincibility. Mortar emplacement was still most common for obvious reasons... |
Sherman smoke is non-doc and free.
Munitions... |
The only issue with camo raketens is the two guys that arent using the raketen will shoot their rifles and reveal the squad when the raketen is using prioritize vehicle. |
Wasnt the Chaffee significantly faster than the Sherman? Could be a light (same amount of health as stuart) and fast tank destroyer. But then again it'd have the same role as the M10
Yup. Pointless. |
