I fail to see how 17 pounder can be more expensive and how the hell it takes 20 pop cap.
Sure, it has brace, cannot be decrwed and can be supported by other emplacement BUT
Pak43 does not cost any fuel, has 10 pop cap, shoots through everything, cannot be killed by AT gun, flames just decrew it instead of destroing it, so I fail to see why 17 pounder is much more expensive.
Oh and it does not have arc of fire which pisses me hard.
There is one much more important difference between the two: one is countered by every arty offmap present in game and the other laughs at everything including stuka dive bombs. This basically means building pak43 is completely out of question while building 17 pounder is just a bad idea. |
OP please, these are best suppression platforms in whole game... Grens had suppression a while ago and it was super overpowered, there is no nerf in gaining suppression. |
I don't think it's a bug so much as a distinction among HMGs that we don't really approve of. The Maxim's got an icon on the minimap like AT guns, and it needs to get sufficient operators to run over and move it like AT guns, just AT guns don't retreat. Same thing happens to Raketens really, just no one talks about it as much since 4 men die way faster compared 6 leaving you in suspense as you watch them run over to the gun and die like flies (and that almost no one uses Raketens ).
Valid point. In the way it works maxim is exactly as raketen: it has wheels, minimap angle, doesn't magically teleport or turn and has retreat instead of reverse. Maybe we just should get over the fact that coh2 has 3 standard support unit behaviours where coh1 had only 2.
Especially if it allows creating such unique and special units like raketen, maxim and DShK. |
High pop is the reason why it is underused. It should be lowered down to 18. But there are also other emplacements that are being overused. These should have their pop higher than it is right now. |
There isn't really such thing as out of position.
There isn't green cover at all times for it to hide behind and whatever right clicks it, makes it unable to retreat.
You can't "counter" death loop, because there is nothing that would prevent or mitigate it.
And by the way, vickers and .50 cal teleport to another squad member, just like HMG42 and 34.
#themoreyouknow
Ofc it teleports, but it doesn't have 6 men and .50cal also has +25% received accurancy. Also you don't need double obers to wipe a maxim that is not setup in green cover, one or 2 rifle nades, depending on spacing, are enough. And it's completely fine becouse you should keep your mgs healthy and in green cover. |
Wrong.
It happens every single time there is more then one squad shooting at maxim, a pair of obers can just frontally assault it, it won't shoot back, it won't run away, because gunner will constantly get gunned down.
Thats exactly what I ment under "being out of position", if unsupported mg happens to be attacked by double obers it won't win and usually won't escape, whether it is maxim, .50 or vickers. |
Eh, medics are kind of a moot point seeing as how Soviets only have healing in-base. It's not practical at all to retreat back to base just to heal wounded models. Keep in mind that HMG function is to hold territory... retreating to heal just isn't an option a lot of time (albeit prudent at times). It's especially problematic with units like HMGs, Kubels, and Flame nades where the scatter damage will ding up a lot of models and set you up death loop regardless of what you do.
Well, if there is only one you can say that it is "holding ground" but usually you have more and one can shoot while the other is healing. Maxim models are blazingly cheap but in it's still worth it to heal them, even for that 15mp per model or just not to loose a squad do death loop. Also you generally just cant play a 1v1 without buying medics. In 2v2 and up you can soft retreat to usf ambulance or even get healed in place by tommies. |
Everybody concerned about "death loop" should consider buying medics. It happens only if all crewmen are low on health or maxim is totally out of position facing a blob. |
I have better solution, just increase the pop of bofors and mortar pit - this way they will be harder to spam and even a single one will hugely affect number of infantry and tanks brit player eventually needs to drive through his own lines to win. |
I haven't played the campaign since release, but I've got to say I was always under the impression that the partisans were Polish, and if not Polish, Czech or Yugoslavian.
But I feel like they were explicitly stated to be Polish, or at least heavily drawing upon the Warsaw uprising and Soviet actions.
The discussion is not about campaign, but multiplayer. In campaign, it is written in the description of 11th mission that partisans are Polish. In multiplayer hints are less obvious. |
