I know I shouldn't always post my wins, but this was a pretty intense game.
Always the Brummbar fails me again as I attempt to troll VonIvan with it due to the early victories

Witness my terrible management of victory points and my opinions for the 221/2's mobility or what I like to say, lack of. |
I would like to think this was a rather good game as I struggle to deal with the OKW waiting right outside the base on Kholdney Winter for a good portion of the game.
The paper tanks of the Americans are called upon to hold the line against the OKW . |
BARs need to be buffed so they're more powerful at short-mid range where rifles excel rather than a price decrease. Cheaper doesn't help, especially since the US is sitting on a ton of munitions for awhile unless they went for early grenades.
Bazookas are a bit harder. How much should they cost at their current state? How much can we buff it without it becoming underpriced? Does it just need more penetration and less scatter to make it better at range than the shrek? Or do Shreks simply need less accuracy at range and a longer aim-time to bring it more in line with the bazooka and other hand-held AT (PTRS) because currently shrieks don't have much of a disadvantage aside from longer reloads. |
Give USA the 81mm mortar. I remember how bad the 60mm mortar was at shelling stuff and was only really good for smoke.
And give US 50cal 42 mechanics for movement or at least teleportation. |
Being probably one of the few players who uses this even after the direct-fire nerf, the main thing it needs imho, is a cost decrease, a fix on the crew price and maybe either less scatter or reduced reload for standard HE(not HEAT) rounds (not both). Maybe, maybe extend the barrage from three to something higher.
I used to think it was a mortar unit that fire directly, but it's a direct-fire gun that can act like a pseudo mortar/howitzer.

Ah, the good old days of Joint Ops where the 105 could fire endlessly so as long as you had munitions thanks to its long barrage versus the ML-20.
I wish both howitzers got an increase in the number of shells they dropped increased somewhere between the pre-patch and post-patch. I feel they don't fire enough to warrant their high prices and it's not like a B-4 that can usually be trusted to land near the target and horribly kill something. |
Could always go with crazy ideas.
Rather than giving them upgrades so they are more killy, what about making something tied into getting T3 or T4 up? Make it like DoW 1 and 2 for IG where tech provides additional members, but the base cost remains the same so you'll have cheap troops to reinforce but losing squads is still a bad idea. Then possibly remove the received accuracy as part of Vet 1.
T3/T4: Provides the ability to have two more members for conscripts upon completion. This would reduce their reinforce cost to 15 (240/2 = 120/8 = 15). Possibly make these two extra men not count towards population or conscript population in general is reduced to a weird 0.75 pop per guy.
Sure conscript rifles aren't great, but that's two more rifle than you had and give more incentives to merge into the 15mp weapon teams and other troops. It would also allow them to be more of a damage sponge/stalling for support and survive longer to get abilities off.
Or easier way, give them more survivability boosts with Vet like Volks. They still won't scale well due to damage output, but they would survive longer and not get horribly gunned down.
|
I'd prefer a Jumbo with abilities meant to either limit incoming damage(Smoke bombs along with maybe a WP shell that locks a target tank out of weapons and sight?) and the ability to tank damage with high armour and good HP. Sure it won't face other heavies effectively, but it would give the US one thing they sorely lack, a meatshield/damage sponge.
We don't need more heavy tanks with good armour and big guns. |
Only thing the pack howitzer needs is lower cost (400-440 somewhere there) and crew cost adjustment.
Le.Ig, maybe a slight AOE increase along with a cost decrease to below 120mm mortar level since I only really see it kill on direct hits. I'm honestly never impressed by them when I come under attack from its shells, but it may be because people, like with the pack howitzer, treat it like a mortar that can direct fire, rather than a direct-fire gun that can act like a mortar.
