Thread: De-crewing Vehicles?12 Mar 2013, 12:28 PM I was wondering if they could be cleared out by grenades as per buildings in the original but I guess that's a "no". The problem I have with snipers in VCoh is not so much where they can cloak, it's that even when you reveal them (often suicide-ing a scout vehicle in the process) you can't effectively target them from range with anything but your own insta-kill sniper. Even if you have a tank nearby you usually have to just attack-ground roughly where they are or drive right on top of them. In: Lobby
Thread: Snipers in CoH224 Feb 2013, 21:51 PM I was thinking about the slight brokenness of snipers in CoH1 and that one possible way to fix this in CoH2 could be if there is a small cool down on the camouflage ability after a sniper had been spotted (not after they fire). It wouldn't need to be too long, only like 4 or 5 seconds but long enough that if you can get a scout in to light up the sniper then it gives you a brief window to focus it with whatever you have nearby before it re-cloaks - although you could always retreat the unit as normal once it had been spotted or attempt to soft pedal away until the cool down resets. My reasoning is that the problem with snipers at the moment in CoH1 is that once you uncloak a sniper you can't effectively target the unit if it is defended. The only way to adequately kill a sniper with infantry (assuming it's mid game and scout vehicles are no longer viable) is to basically run on top of them which is not possible if they are defended by MGs, mines, etc. This change is only a small de-buff so the sniper meta is not completely destroyed and it wouldn't effect how scout vehicles interact with snipers since they decloak them anyway. However it would keep scout vehicles more relevant into the mid game (you can dash in to light them up and run away again) and make it a little more difficult to create the roving bands of snipers you see a lot in CoH1. Thread: Multi-task is fail: Command Group tips17 Jan 2013, 14:54 PM Thanks for the replies, interesting to hear that I'm not the only one battling with these I already grouped snipers, mortars and artillery, I'm okay at that as it's very useful to ensure that these units are always active (or when you want to fire at something in a hurry). My rationale behind grouping all my units though is just to extend this same philosophy so I can keep all my units active and so I can always know what my army composition looks like. It might be overkill as some of you say so maybe I'll scale back and not group EVERYTHING. For example I tried grouping MGs and ATGs yesterday but I didn't find it particularly useful since you need to micro these around any way. In: COH Central
Thread: Multi-task is fail: Command Group tips16 Jan 2013, 14:51 PM Hi all, I've been playing CoH for about 6 months now and I've reached the point that I usually reach with RTS games where I know the general theory, I know the maps and the units (ish) but my ability to move the mouse and click the buttons is starting to really let me down. I'm using hotkeys well now, I use queued commands, and I'm also using the strat map quite a lot but one area where I know I'm very poor is in using command groups. Are there any techniques that you've found to help yourself use these? I found with the hotkeys that if I mentally stopped myself clicking the pictures in the UI and then pressed the hotkey instead then it really helped me to work them into my game so I was wondering if there were similar tricks/tips for command groups? Thread: Balance vCoH Trolololo15 Jan 2013, 10:25 AM Finally had chance to watch this week's SNF and was really great to see two of the best duking it out. It's a shame the US got trounced but I think it only proved that slow WSC into delayed Sherman is not a good counter to anything. DevM's brief but illustrious jeep micro on Semois looked promising until he suicided his jeep and we didn't really see anyone giving the M8 a good run for it's money.
