OKW is definitely not easier of the two anymore,id say both axis factions are equally frustrating now. It depends.
You really just have to keep all your stuff in position to support eachother so they dont isolated and focused down.

I do double MG double pio double gren with maybe a sniper almost every game and it works for me.
There is no obvious flaw in that build at all unless you spread out too much too early, or just get unlucky.
I have not lost to USF at all since this patch while being Ost,and its been a while since ive lost to them at all.(at least 10 games vs USF lost count) Part of the reason I dont mind playing VS usf is because ive played as them so much I know what works against me,and what i struggle with.
What makes me "struggle" is good MG play, Ostheer players that actually use combined arms,and LMG spam CAS.
MG42 Incendiary kills both AAHT and M20 in two bursts....so its hardly "only idiots that drive into an MG" especially when its in a building in an important part of the map. More like try to be aggressive at all with that vehicle and its dead,from JUST an MG42.
Also I never asked anyone to try anything for me.. reread what I wrote before assaulting me(kappa) I asked you to provide a replay of this somehow not working for you(it works for me).
You and the other "ostheer sucs" are the ones being stubborn and just saying "OH THAT DOESNT WORK NO NO NO ur wrong USF UNSTOPPABLEEEE!!" when people that are proving,with video evidence,and their own stats and experiences that it does in fact work. Its just hard at times depending on the map(which is a MAP problem,not an OST problem),ill agree with that,and that only.

Its a bit counterproductive to fight in the forest on this map (Or lienne forest) as Ostheer vs USF. just fight in the open north and around the middle fuel.
You guys are fighting mostly in the city where the allies have the advantage instead of up north in the open fields where axis has the advantage,(and the victory points+ fuel).
So you guys are losing Kubels and MGs left and right,accomplishing nothing,and the map is completely blue 6 mins in.
Part of the reason why you're getting blown back so hard,is your OKW teammate did not build a forward med hq,and its 6 mins in and he actually hasnt teched at all. him building a med hq in the middle is enough to hold and control,and at the very least, contest,that middle fuel.
You, shouldve had your forces roving between the middle fuel and the victory point+top fuelfuel,with support from the med truck and the OKW player.
Really, your teammate is screwing you over pretty badly,and if hes your partner find a new one if you like winning, really bad teammate. STILL hasnt teched at all 8 minute in,hasnt touched the top fuel....
Teammate finally techs up and gets a unit and its a flak halftrack 10 minutes in...
So far i have also seen 0 blobs. 3 squads ambushing a lone MG in a forest is not a blob.
14 mins in and no T4 from your OKW teammate
YOu guys still have not secured your section of the map you're strongest at.(the open fields)
This review so far is really just me harping on your teammate but again he really sucks. floating 1k manpower with plenty of fuel,no T4,no MG34s,nothing. Any of that wouldve stopped that ultra OP blob of 4 PPSH conscripts on open ground(sarcasm) dead in their tracks,and even now,20 minutes in, you guys(your teammate) has never secured the top fuel.
If anything that loss was on your teammate for the most part,it IS a 2v2.
And your mistake was fighting in that cramped forest against USF. You actually played solidly.
My tip for you? Find a real teammate around your skill level,and play to your faction's strength on particular maps.

Never played vcoh online, and how is OKW in a better spot than Ost right now vs USF when volks are worse than grens and Kubel isn't exactly good against multiple flanking squads either, and sturms have to charge into point blank vs rifles to to do anything?
And regarding comebacks, PREPATCH I watched an Ost jesulin get pinned into his base by an AA Halfttack+rifle swarm, and come back to win the game dominantly without losing a single squad. In case you didn't know OSTHEER DOES scale to the late game,especially now.
Not saying that can happen every game, but don't sit there and act like USF is just this unstoppable menace you cannot comeback from.
I get so sick of reading that Ost is just this helpless pushover vs USF, then I go into games and experience the exact opposite of what I see here, both playing as Ost and playing Against them.
Show me a video from this patch where 2 grenadiers 2 MGs and a pio with flames lose to four rifles and an officer where the ostheer didn't position their shit wrong and I'll delete my account on coh2.org and uninstall coh2 and I'll send you money for dinner. |
Uhm you understand that by the time you have 2 mgs and 2 grens, they have 4 riflemen squads, they just need to let one squad be pinned, or two, and let the other ones come in from flanks. Your supporting infantry can't be everywhere. I understand you are trying to defend the USF, but such claims are out of order..
so you would have extended vision Pios, maybe with flamers,2 MGs, and two grenadiers vs four rifles and maybe an officer with RE. Is that really as impossible as you're making it out to be?

Very true! Yet if he has grenades, he has smoke, if he has smoke, he has grenades, that only takes one squad from the side to throw a nuclear pineapple and the mg is as good as dead. What does work, in some situations is a command bunker, but it won't stop the hordes comming form all side.
But when will they show the Ostheer some more love? It is still the lagging faction!
Ok so if he comes from all directions + smoke like he's supposed to then what's supposed to happen? A USF loss?
Nuclear pineapple? Seriously, unless you have your MG teams and supporting squads engaging in Coitus instead of fighting that will not happen, and if it does just try to recrew with Pios..which is a win for you thanks to that lovely sight.
I used to sympathize with the "OST WEAK" complaints on this forum but the more I play them and play against them ESPECIALLY this patch the more I want to just ignore the balance forums altogether.
Why not learn from what you did wrong in your loss instead of blaming it on balance every single time?
Why is the first reaction after losing a couple times to make a thread "x unit too OP" "x faction is so bad"
ostheer is now tied or slightly behind USF for second best faction., behind the true unstoppable Horde faction; the soviets.
OKW is just everyones play toy

I agree with you apart from the fact that Ostheer early game is comparable with USF. In no way, shape or form can you perform anything like the USF early with the Ostheer. Riflemen blobs are still the doom of all Ostheers early game. Unless you get a nice map in which mgs can block certain approach paths very good. USF dominates early game.
You can literally now spot the blob coming a mile away and you can bleed it like crazy with MG42 and new sniper with ease. Add some grens for good measure. If he goes early nades then no early light vehicles

I disagree,I think the mg ,pioand sniper buff completly tipped the balance scale in USF vs Ost early game.
Add in the 222 indirect buff against M20....it's A lot tougher to fight Ost as USF now as well.
Hell id go as far as saying Ost is almost my favorite faction now. The only thing I struggle with balance wise is soviet Shock rifle. IS2 is SO annoying to kill(worse than KT) unless it hits a teller, or you go for Irrelephant.

we had 3 games in a row against a american and sowjet blob. now we both are pretty frustrated.
any tips, especially for HARDcounters against a blob are appreciated:
Quick hint from me is the blob early warning system(BEWS) build of 2x Pios,1 gren,2MG,and a sniper. Only drawback is you're kinda screwed against M20 if your grens are out of position.
