From the description it would appear that the stug is now a assault gun, rather then a tank destroyer. Considering it has a high velocity gun, it will probably have the high velocity profile. HE profiles I think are going to be stuff like the sturmpanzer 4, rockets, SU76/ZIS barrages and maybe the ISU152. Edit: just read this on the official forums from PQ: "None of the vehicles use explosive weapons. Artillery, some abilities, and future units will use explosive type shells." I dont think alot of the people that are worried or arent worried have taken into account how much this could impact things. If the drop off say for the P4 is rather sharp then the increase to the T34 armor may be really strong for example. In: Lobby

Thread: Patch notes - April 24 Update - Balance Notes23 Apr 2014, 18:47 PM This is probably the missing piece of the pie to truely understand the changes Vehicle Penetration Vehicle penetration is now based on distance to target. High velocity weapons have a lower drop off than low velocity. High explosive weapons do not drop off over distance. and AOE Profiles Very similar to the changes made to grenade AOE profiles. Long and mid-range AOE no longer has a chance to miss its target, the weapon profile damage has been averaged out to compensate. Slight adjustments to AOE radius or distance values were made on a number of vehicles to better align them with their intended performance. So not sure what weapon profiles the armor has because evidently that makes a diff. I agree though adding armor to the T34/76 and it still gets pen by just about everything frontally at their optimal ranges. But maybe better at the longest ranges and against different weapons. Katitof may lack those things we call dem Social Skills but it doesn't make him any less correct on this point. German Ubermensch are better thats why soviets need 50% more men in a squad to deal with them. They should be balanced. Everybody that theorycrafts likes to say "Well just make them cheaper" but those same people forget that there is this thing called a Map. On this map units can only occupy a certain amount of space. More units means less opportunities to use them together. I have seen this with T34/76s time and time again. Yes they are cheaper and against a P4 that kind of worked until you got in situations where it just wasnt possible to move them both and have them fight together. The easiest answer was and always has been make them equal. The only asymmetry these units really require is 6 men vs 4. In: COH2 Balance

IMO if a german player over extends his tank or is not mindful of its positioning, side and rear rams should be rewarded with damaged engine and/or main gun damage based off of blessed RNG. Frontal rams should be punished by only allowing a crew shock. Its a step closer to a more competitive game based on tactical thinking and less about chance. And if thats the case then crew shock shouldnt shock the soviet tank and be no less than 10 seconds. Lets face it a T3 Sov vs T4 Ost would be broken just as bad with or without ram. With Ram at least you have a CHANCE to damage the Panther. And how the hell are you supposed to flank that race car? I am actually fine with Ram being removed if they gave the T34/76 decent Pen. Or damage on deflect. So you could at least chip away at Panthers. 40 damage on deflect? In: COH2 Balance

Game will be unbalanced for sure, as it is now, don't expect much. The only thing that will be different, will be the whiners. I agree. I expect that they will make it a little better but like the infantry changes, one side will have the edge for several months. T34s being stronger plus having Ram may be OP depending on how much stronger it is. It could just as easily still suck due to the cost of T3/T4. I am hoping that since PQ wants the soviets to be stuck with one building that the T34 can if massed and supported compete with German armor in all Tiers or once again it wont be built. Blitz changes make me worry a bit as I said before. I personally think its good for the P4 since its really not that much better than a T34 until Vet 2. I would say those two tanks are balanced for cost already (minus the silly vet2 UberPanzer). And if they make the armor better and remove the ability to Blitz to safety then they really need to look at Mark Vehicle...160 damage per shot plus 50%? Yeah thats an IS2 gun with crappy Pen. I agree 100% Make the T34 cost enough that you could build 2 for every P4 say for 100 fuel so 50 fuel each. Nerf them just slightly because you know more tanks means more tank micro and you really should get rewarded for that. Also all the maps will need to have chokepoints and such reworked so that the Soviets can cram double the number of tanks through them. But Relic doesnt want to do that. So we need to balance them against one another. In: COH2 Gameplay
