Hi I have not been playing long so I want to ask you guys for some information on things.
1. Who is this vetlolcake everyone keeps talking about?
2. How did the Elbe Day, and March Deployments make some factions OP (I saw the march deployment vid, it seemed like good changes to me)?
3. Why was the Tiger Ace OP?
1. VetLolcake is a troll who always shows extreme bias toward the German factions. He's been very successful in his work. He got banned but people think Warthrone is him, but he's banned too now.
2. Before that, a lot of the game was luck. Conscripts and Grenadiers had an equal chance to kill each other at any range, SMG's increased damage at all ranges (not just close) while LMG's increased it massively at all ranges (instead of being geared toward long range), and Assault Rifles were universally better than Rifles and SMG's combined. Also the Grenadier G43 at Vet 2 had 100% accuracy!
3. The Tiger Ace was consider OP because it had a massive health pool, more armour, was very accurate, and did twice the gun damage. Now it's just a Vet 3 Tiger with more health (originally it didn't have more health, but when the Tiger was reduced from 1280 to 1040, the Tiger Ace wasn't) |
The other day I had a squad retreat forward, for some reason. Never got to see where he was trying to go, he was killed. |
A challenging 45 minute game featuring 9 IS-2's, multiple Panzers and StuGs, and one very elite Panther, topped with a King Tiger. Props to the opponents for excellent use of Shock Smoke and ZiS Barrage.

Lets face it, the OKW puma is way over preforming. I think the Osheer one always has as well, but this one is better for whatever reason like the panther. well microed it can beat most heavy armor. I have developed a strat as Ostheer vs rifle company that relies on pumas and paks to stun lock tanks in front of AT guns that vet up and then re stun them. The OKW have no pak40s, but the Puma is still ridiculously effective for an armored car with a light AT gun on it. I think getting rid of the non vetted smokes is a great starting point for slight nerf to the unit. It will probably need a slight health decrease to make it more risky to use because for some reason it has almost medium armor amount of health.
Strongly disagree, not only does OKW heavily crutch on the Puma for it's AT, but it's not as bad as everyone says it is. It has 400 health and does 120 damage, a medium tank has 640 and does 160 damage. It takes a Puma 5 shots to kill a T-34/76, but can only take 3 before it does. You need to micro it or pray to the RNG Gods to reliably beat a T-34/76. Also the Puma's armour is so light, a Sherman HE round can punch through it at any range, so you don't need to switch off HE to fight 'em. In fact since HE rounds are more accurate, they're actually better for fighting Pumas.
People complain that the reketenwerfer is bad, but for how cheap it is I think people are just hoping for this little guy to act for a pak40 while they save for a panther or a KT. These guys and Pshrecks are good at pushing back armor but they alone should not be relied on to hold back all armor. It makes me cringe when people complain their shreck blob and reketenwerfers didnt hold back T34-85s in time for their KT or panther to arrive. They have such great vet bonuses and their ability to be placed in buildings makes them really great on other maps compared to other AT guns.
I don't see much use for Raketenwerfers other than rear-echelon AT support, for when someone punches through your frontline. I don't expect them to be a Pak, but I'd like them to be useful in some way. Their survivability is garbage, their range is short, and their mobility is no higher than any other AT gun. The only good thing about them is the low cost which almost makes them worth getting, and the ability to put them in buildings.
I would like to add that the Flak Emplacement is useless, no wonder nobody uses them! They have worse suppression than an MG 34 or Bunker, and if you have even light cover, you won't get suppressed or take any damage. I've had Penals walk into sight, cross a stream, and crawl up to the gun, crawl away a little (derp AI?), crawl back, throw a satchel charge, and boom. Then they stand up almost immediately and capture the sector. I myself walked up to one using only a wooden fence as cover, and threw a molotov on it, then walked away. I took no damage and didn't get suppressed. Worthless! |
As for your M10s I have tried many times to get them to work, they simply do not do enough damage and are even more paper thin. Pumas will kill them which is why it is simply not worth getting one because they are generally on the field for OKW and Ostheer players will just ignore it. At taht point you are better off saving fuel for a regular sherman.
I may have been lucky in the times I used them, but I liked them. In combination with Bazookas (1 BAR, 1 Bazooka) I was able to flank and destroy a lightly supported (though over-extended) Jagdtiger, something I would not have been able to do if I'd gone with the M36's. Their penetration isn't much lower and the high mobility and faster reload makes up for the lack of damage per-shot.
Regarding E8s, they need to match T34-85s CP requirements and at the moment, have a little increase in fuel/mp. LITTLE.
145 - 150 Fuel would be most fitting for the Easy Eight. You're getting a tank that can single-handedly take on any other Medium Tank, only Heavy Tanks and Tank Hunters pose a significant threat. |
I hope Elite Armoured sees a rework, I had a chance to pick any doctrine I wanted and I blew it by accidentally picking the worst one
Of course at the time I didn't know Elite Armoured was so awful, nor that it be for sale down the line while others wouldn't be. I just let my love of Panzer IV's cloud my judgement. |
I like Penals the way they are, they just need to be more cost-effective. I don't want Penals to be long range units, because that goes entirely against the entire purpose of the SVT. They just need to be better at what they do, assault and defense clearing. Maybe Penals could benefit from reduced suppression or something, because the only thing more intimidating than the gun in your face is the one in your back |
I think easy 8s are fine after call ins are addressed
Disagree, the Easy Eight is overperforming for it's price. At 10 fuel more than a Panzer IV, it has a 35 armour advantage and a 55 penetration advantage. The E8's gun also has the overall tightest spread of all medium tanks.
M10 wolverine utterly blows, its like the SU76 had a bastard child and gave it to USF
I disagree, I actually prefer the M10 over the M36 sometimes. They're cheap, they're fast, flank speed is epic, and they have good penetration. The M36 is expensive and lacks mobility and penetration (more than M10 but not enough to cover the disadvantages imo).
I think the main problem with why USF struggles late game is this miss conception of "swarming" many worse tanks against a better tank which rarely happens (unless they are saving for an expensive ass call in tank). My opinion is that the fact that the USF tanks are soo expensive in fuel and in pop cap you cannot hope to really swarm Axis tanks. Think about it: if two sides has the same amount of stuff they can take, and one side has worse stuff, they will be of course at a disadvantage.
Agreed with this 110%, to add to it, my theory on why it isn't working:
As far as US Tank Doctrine, we used Tanks to support Infantry, and only brought Tank Destroyers in when we met Armoured Resistance. The problem with that is CoH2 is far too small scale to adequately portray that. In CoH2 the chances you'll face armoured resistance are 100% unless you're winning by a massive margin. Therefore, Tank Destroyers are always going to be the go-to option.
So what can be done? Unfortunately, I don't think much of anything can be done. The best bet imo would be allowing the 76mm Sherman to be buildable alongside the 75mm version (which would be identical to the Soviet M4C Sherman). Unfortunately, Relic is extremely stubborn about faction design structure, and will not alter it for any reason at all, and USF late-game will never be reworked. |

Nonstop would be too much, but it'd just be nice to choose between more accurate fire against a specific target or saturation fire against multiple targets in a larger area. Concentrated Fire could be slower while Saturation Fire would be faster. |
