When you mod a game the game you are modding has exclusive rights because you are using THIER product. If you really like your product do what the DayZ team did....turned their mod into a stand alone game Imagine the circle jerk. Arma 2 comes out Years later it has barely any sales Modders make Dayz for 20$ People buy Arma 2 for 20$ then DayZ for 20$. Arma 2 because popular again. (this has nothing to do aside from the fact that a modder did a good job) Arma 2 devs make money off Arma 2 Arma 2 devs make 7-10$ off the dayz mod. (Arma 2 devs did NOTHING to deserve these funds but here we are...) They decide to make a standalone dayz Dayz released as standalone for 29.99$ as alpha then beta then still beta... then still beta...... Then mods for DayZ and we keep going and going In: Lobby
Thread: Relic pls...No Steam Premium mods.24 Apr 2015, 16:16 PM Seeing how this game has evolved, I can't say I'd be surprised if relic decided to get on board. If they do however, I'll be done legitimately. This would be a slap in the face to the community in my opinion. I sincerely hope they think about the community's perception. Most of the people who play are the same people who've been supporting coh2 since day one, not many NEW players...with that in mind, charging them for mods that users make for the community is a low blow. Reading the workshop agreement; you give up any rights to your mod at the sole discretion of valve and the publisher. Sections 2, 5, and 6 in particular give ultimate control over any pricing to valve and the publisher, as they can modify the price (including distribute it for free with no compensation to the creator) at their will. They can also choose to bundle mods to sell, assigning the worth of the elements of the mod at their discretion. So even if a modder does not want to charge, steam/relic would be able to change that. Say a mod is so good it because instantly popular, why wouldn't steam/relic want to profit off of it? the modder would have no choice. ALL IN ALL - mods aren't considered mods anymore and they're considered 3rd party DLC. Or Indy DLC, whichever term you prefer. In: Lobby

Remember COH2 Collectors Edition much? They rush out a product and let the few suckers pay top dollar and then 3 months later it'll be $5. I cant really care any less about Single Player so the only real complaint I have is that they wasted so much time on it. Not planning on being that sucker this time around. As far as I can tell, there is no discount for people who've already purchased WFA or CoH2. I can understand if someone was to buy the standalone all by itself, not having purchased WFA or CoH2 before, sure 43$ is alright considering WFA is 19.99$. but I already purchased the units being used (minus some new ones), I already bought the shaders used, I've already bought the horrible pathfinding, I already own all the skins that they'll be using in the game, the grens will looks like grens, the riflemen will look like riflemen. These are all things I've already paid for... Basically I'd 43$ for a bunch of new single player missions that they've made using the World builder...It doesn't sound as bad as it is...but The way I feel now is almost how I feel when I buy DLC that ends up being 120kb. You all know that DLC, the one just unlocks an area that was already shipped with the original game. I know it's not the same thing but the feeling is the same, I feel jipped and I haven't even purchased it. I was looking forward to playing it and was thinking it would be around 19.99 or 24.99. Odds are I'll just wait until it goes on sale and i'll buy it then. /Rant TL;DR That's furkin expensive! Anyone have any information that could potentially justify paying that much? Are you going to buy it? What would make you buy it? For the Soviet-players it meant the only way to compete with Osts medium and heavytanks was the Isu. In some sense relic did not learn from earlier mistakes when they introduced Wfa. The OKW-tanks are determining the meta in 2v2 and up. It seems we have to help them out. So, how should relic balance the tanks that are a problem without making them as useless as the elefant? The tanks that I have in mind is Jagdtiger, Kingtiger, Isu-152 and the Elefant. If you feel any other tanks are a problem, plz discuss. If you dont think any of these tanks are a problem, motivate. Uhm...what is everyone on? Are you saying that it's not fun to play? Are you saying that it's not balanced? I haven't used an elefant/pak43 against an ISU in so long. I've been defeated by IS2s. I've been defeated by T34/85s. I've been defeated by an ISU152 I've won vs an IS2 I've won vs a T34/85 combo I've won vs an ISU152 without elefant. I feel like many of these posts aren't for actual game balance but merely to try and get internet fame (as stupid and childish as it sounds). It's easy to gain approval by your peers when you appeal to the masses. Your masses, in this sense, being the ones that do nothing but cry OP every time they lose a bad game Unshavenbackman - I would like to say that you are famous to me. Famous for wanting to be famous, kind of like Paris Hilton.3 That being said, the only thing I would agree on when it comes to medium/heavy tank is tying Call in to certain tiers...Aside from that, its fine. Tigers are 230 fuel and much less manpower You pay more fuel for an inferior tank. Until that changes People will always choose tiger over t4 That's a little different, It's worth going straight for tiger once you have T3 up and running pumping a few tanks because you can hold out until Tiger. If you rush out a Panther and use it well, it could be just as good. That's a strategy you can choose though. it's one or the other and they're both Viable. In: COH2 Balance

Thread: OH Teching to panther PROPER calculations.10 Sep 2014, 20:15 PM Goooooooooddddd afternooooon ladies and gentleman, welcome to another...Sorry, it's just stuck in my head haha This has nothing to do with Sov/OKW/US Strictly Ostheer Teching in relations to 2v2 as main gameplay (could be applied to 1v1 though I believe) Anyway, Let me get right into it. Most calculations I see when people are arguing why Panther costs too much are as follows. Tier 1-4 + tier 4 building = 760 / 190 (manpower and fuel respectively) Then adding in the cost of a Panther which is 490 / 175 In total: 760 / 190 + 490 / 175 = 1250 / 365. So what they like to argue is that your first panther costs you 1250 Manpower and 365 Fuel. This is utter bullshit. I'm mainly an axis player and I'll explain to you why I think this calculation is wrong AND makes it seem over priced. (I'm an axis player, that's what I find fun, I don't care what you think about my faction choice so keep it to yourself) If you want to tell me that you're going to play an entire match without getting a unit from Tier 1-3 by all means, go ahead and lose 100% of your games unless you're playing someone who JUST started playing RTS genre games. You're not the person who should be reading this anyway. The Proper calculation should be as follows: Tier 2 + Tier 3 + tier 3 building + Panther So: 200/35 + 200/50 + 160/35 + 490/175 = 1050/295 (Manpower & fuel respectively) And this is to RUSH OUT a panther mid game. Now, it may still seem to be expensive because you can call in a tiger for 720/200 HOWEVER... However, If you're going to call in a tiger as OH, you're going to get a stug or p4 to hold out until the tiger comes. So now it's Tier 2 + Building + Stug + Tiger (being generous, many people will pick p4 over stug) 200+35 + 160/25 + 280/95 + 720/200 = 1360 / 355 So, to successfully call a Tiger (in late game), you would require 1360/355 If you want to tell me that you're just going to build pak40s as AT until tiger comes out, you obviously don't play axis much. --------------------------------------- TL;DR I think the teching cost to Panther are Somewhat balanced depending on the strategy you chose to go with. In conclusion, skipping T3 and rushing a panther to have it out ASAP is well worth it's price considering the dominance the unit can have as a mid game unit. (At 1050/295) Tier 2 + Tier 3 + tier 3 building + Panther = 200/35 + 200/50 + 160/35 + 490/175 = 1050/295 Alternatively, you can wait until late game and call in the tiger, but everyone who plays this game enough knows that OH can't hold the entire game with just Pak40s just to call in a tiger, so one medium tank has to be included (at 1360 / 355) Tier 2 + Building + Stug + Tiger = 200+35 + 160/25 + 280/95 + 720/200 = 1360 / 355 Feel free to discuss Please tell me if any of my numbers are incorrect, I'm currently at work and I'm using memory/older guides to do the calculations.
