Just like in the old days of the Eastern Front, if your opponent gets LMGs while you can't (i.e. every single game of Wehrmacht vs Soviets), you have to spend munitions on mines to compensate. Lucky for you, the USF M1919LMG is both suckier and more expensive than the Wehr LMG42. This means that you have even more ammo free to even the odds using mines and booby traps. |
The Soviet sniper is fine. It's the Ostheer sniper that does too well.
I would actually like to see all snipers be 2 man squads with low health. That way you actually get some MP drain if you get flanked instead of getting away with 2hp and 0mp loss. |
No.
USF AT-Nade is quite OP and its range must be shorter than that of the other factions, as the same unit can carry a zook or is always accompanied by the free captain.
Imagine if PGrens had panzerfaust.
That reasoning makes very little sense at best. |
A bloody back and forth game on Semoisky Winter! |
I do not agree with this idea for two reasons. The first is that mortars are already units that require micro if you want to make the most out of them. Sure, you can 'set and forget' about them and they will do damage, but you can also A-move a rifle squad and it will do damage. But just like with other units, mortars get better once you micro them more. To use them to their maximum effectiveness, you have to move them with your army, getting them as close as possible to the enemy to ensure maximum accuracy. You also have to manually target high priority squads so the shells do not get wasted. Proper use of artillery requires thought.
The second reason why I do not like your proposition is that it will just make mortars a bad investment against anything other than heavy support weapon play. Infantry heavy play often revolves around quick movement and flanking. Barrage abilities are totally useless in these types of engagements. Having mortar rely on the barrage will just send them into extinction like the heavy howitzers, but unlike heavy howitzers they do not even have the redeeming factor of obliteration the target infantry squad if they get a lucky first hit. |
UC as a command vehicle is kinda OP actually. Free recon almost constantly and against Ostheer this counters all sniper play. Hans vs Barton definitely showed this.
There are already plenty of maphack abilities in the game. IR HT, spotting scope 222, vet1 kubel ability, vet3 t70 recon mode. All of these also only require a 1-time purchase. |
But the mortar pit has more range? You can't just start attacking and kill it within a few seconds. Double leig also comes out a whole lot later than brits can build their mortar pit, as well as the fact that some mortar pit placements (like the one posted by the OP) can not simply be killed with leigs.
The range difference is not that significant, especially when the LEIG gets to vet 1.
I urge you to actually try to use double LEIG to counter mortar pits. You will be surprised by the results. I don't even bother using mortar pits vs OKW anymore because of the ease with which LEIGs counter them. |
nice try
Of course you think it is a nice try; it is your logic that I was using after all. Everybody else on the forum probably thought it was a ridiculous idea. Here are more arguments that line up with your reasoning of "why buff sexton when allies already have good arty?"
1: Why buff 222 when axis already have the puma that can deal with light vehicles?
2: Why buff penal troops? Allies already have BAR riflemen.
etc. |
almost 700MP vs a mortar pit of 400?
Exactly. You have to spend manpower to counter things. You have to spend more manpower if you want to counter things quickly. 2 LEIGS counter mortar pits quickly and require almost no micro to do so. After you killed the mortar pit, you now have 2 Leigs to bombard infantry sections -that have to stand bunched up in cover to be effective- with. I don't know what more you could want. Countering emplacements HAS to come at a price, otherwise there would be no point for the opponent to even construct the emplacement to begin with now would there? |
What are we talking about here? When does ostheer and OKW ever have the time and resources to get 2 mortarHTs or 2 LeiGs out? Armored assault? This isn't the late game. Axis will at best be able to afford a luchs, if that. And if they get a luchs, they have no Leig or puma for the AEC.
If you want to kill an emplacement early, quick and easy, you go for 2x LEIGS. If you can't afford 2 LEIGS against a player who spends his MP on emplacements, then you must be suffering a huge MP bleed somewhere else and emplacements will not be the reason you are losing games. |
